Solutions only exist when people get paid for it.
My roommate is on this kick, talking about how there should be solutions to people's problems, just because there should be. The world is supposed to be the way it aught to be.

Wow...

I am the curmudgeon that gets to point out that the world isn't nice or fair. While individuals might be helpful and kind, on the larger scale solutions only exist if people make a profit providing those solutions.

Now I've talked my way out of a pretty good mood. :(

1. Awww.
Just 'cause you're pointing out the devil's advocate side doesn't actually make you an apologist for the devil. :)

2. If I was just being the devil's advocate I think I'd be having fun with it.
I remember from my psych classes back in college that people who are depressed actually see the world more accurately than people who are not depressed. They don't have a vested interest in believing things are good, or will turn out well.

I feel kind of like that now. We had this serious discussion about people not getting the help they need, and now I'm a bit depressed. x(

So now this brings up an interesting point. Do people become depressed because they see the world accurately, or do they see the world accurately because they are depressed.

I'll be cheerful again in the morning. I promise. :P

3. I'd say a little from column A, a little from column B. :)
I've managed to develop a healthy (and by that, I mean ridiculous) amount of sarcasm and cynicism which helps me deal with the world when it's being craptastic in a somewhat positive and humorous manner. :) So I can see the world clearly and avoid getting depressed about it at the same time.
