What's your favorite torch song and singer?
I like Julie London's rendition of "Cry Me a River."

Cry Me a River:cry:

I'm not sure about this version, but I do have a CD on which I think Barney Kessel did the guitar work...

1. I liked Linda Ronstadt's albums with the Nelson Riddle orchestra
They were the one's that got me interested in torch-style singing.

All 3 of them are available on cd as a set, called 'Round Midnight.

She has a beautiful voice for the old standards (I especially liked her versions of 'Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered' and 'Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out to Dry'.

She also did a couple of videos from the first album in the 80's. She looked beautiful made up as a 40's big band singer.

Another recent example, Queen Latifah in the Holly Hunter movie "Living Out Loud". She sings a version of 'Lush Life' that literally gave me chills.
