TMZ has learned actor Willie Aames -- yeah, Buddy from "Charles in Charge" -- and his son Christopher were robbed with the help of a silver steel automatic handgun.

At around 10 PM last night in Hollywood, a man wearing a black jacket and blue jeans approached Willie and Christopher, pulled a gun and demanded money. They forked over a wallet and loose cash. Total damage -- about $15! Willie and Christopher were unharmed.

We're told the robber fled the scene in a black car. A popo investigation is underway.

3. If he had Charles in charge of him....
...chances are he would have never been in that situation.

Remember, Charles is in charge of both your days and your nights, your wrongs and your rights.

5. I'll bet it was Adam Rich who did it.
1991. Adam Rich, child star of ABC's "Eight is Enough" is arrested for shoplifting in a department store. Ten days earlier, he had been arrested for breaking into a pharmacy. Rich, who played Nicholas in the popular 1970's series, pleaded no contest to the charge. The former child star had been arrested several times from 1983 to 1991 for numerous brushes with the law. Rich is now an assistant director at Walt Disney Studios in California.
