Remember, remember...
The fifth of November.

The gunpowder treason and plot.

I see know reason the gunpowder treason...

Ever be forgot.

I am watching V for Vendetta right now, and my coworker has never watched it. He is amazed how similar some of this sounds to present day.

1. To a brit like me, it's weird that that rhyme's become so ubiquitous...

Bonfire night's an old British custom. Perhaps it's a translatable one? Could you see it taking off in the States?

2. Sometimes, I feel that revolution is something that should happen every once in awhile.
Helps freshen things up.

3. My dear tex!
How's that saying go?

Those who have forgotten history are condemned to repeat it...

Something like that...

Or maybe it's just: There's nothing new under the sun...

:hi:

5. If you do not know your history, you are doomed to repeat it.
The thing about that movie is the fact that it makes you wonder about the Bushies. And the things that have happened. It can make you want to put tinfoil on your head.

4. I just like it because now when I tell people that my birthday is on Guy Fawkes day, some of them
actually know what day that is. :) Before I just had to tell 'em it was the day Doc Brown invented time travel in Back to the Future.

6. I like it because it reminds me that sometimes you need a little revolution.
And I feel that my work to try to make change in our countries path, makes me feel I am contributing to a little revolution.

7. Things need to be shaken up now and then.
Otherwise they'll get stagnant.

Which reminds me... I need to shake up the mead I just started brewing... :P First three days of brewing you need to make sure to get some oxygen into the mix for the yeast. And for little batches like what I'm making, the easist way to do that is just to pick up the jug and shake it. You don't want to keep doing it after that though, otherwise it'll turn into vinager.

I'm sure there's a moral in there too. A little revolution is good. But if you do too much of it for too long you can just end up with something that's gone sour. :)
