I'm happy, proud and can't believe it. There've been a few times where I almost bought some. Came close, but didn't. Glad to be smoke-free. :bounce:

5. Did the cold turkey bit...
was in the hospital for the first 36 hours and that put me on the road.

I do miss smoking sometimes, but I do feel way better now. No wheezing and no cig smell. I hate that.

7. Yeah, but how much crack have you smoked?
Just kidding. Quitting smoking is incredibly hard to do. It took me seven tries before it stuck.

CONGRATS!

It gets easier with time... after a while you won't even know how you managed to tolerate the stinky things. :)

12. I've been tobacco free since the first of November
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 04:08 PM by BrotherBuzz
I believe I've thrown off the shackles for good because I actually play a non-smoker in my dreams. Weird. I still, and probably always will, have fleeting desires to take a drag, but those moments pass and I believe I'm going to win.

Smoke-free! WooHoo!

On edit: I discovered many things since kicking butts, but the oddest one was to wake up and discover I LOVE pie. I Absolutely love cherry, apple, and peach pie to death. I think cheese cake is really a pie in disguise and they should legally change the name to cheese pie. Do you like pie?

13. I've had one smoking dream...
I was smoking and wondering why in the blue blazes I was smoking since I was supposed to have quit. Still kept smoking. Go figure.

Love pie and it loves me...way too much. So it's a once in a blue moon occasion type of food to have on a holiday.

14. Congratulations on your accomplishment!!
I've been smoke-free since Oct. 20, 2006 - and still wish I could have a cigarette about 5 times per day.
But I know I never will.
Wouldn't want to go through that process again!

Again - congratz. Not an easy thing to do!

Ate snax and chocolate as a substitute. Had smoked since Fall of 1966.

21. Congratulations, cynatnite! You are awesome!
Becoming a nonsmoker is an incredible accomplishment. As others have said, you are way over the worst part and there is NO WAY you should even think about going through that again! It does get easier and you may always have cravings from time to time but they will get fewer and further between. I became a nonsmoker on March 16, 1996 (two years to the day that I became a nondrinker) and I still want one from time to time. Stay strong, there is NOTHING that you can do that is better for your health.:yourock:
