In honor of David Bowie's Birthday: Favorite Bowie Album & Song
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 03:24 PM by LynneSin
Bonus - favorite David Bowie era (ie Ziggy, Thin White Duke etc. etc.)

My favorite album will always be "Hunky Dory"
As for favorite song - floats between "Heros", "Kooks" , "Panic in Detroit" and the one I'm listening to right now - "Moonage Daydream"

Personally I love his older stuff better, but I'm like that with most musicians around for longer than 20 years.

1. Diamond Dogs
The Candidate

That's just right this second... I might change my mind at ANY MINUTE!

I couldn't possibly pick a forever favorite. He's one of my favorite musicians in the world. The first one I 'discovered' on my own. I grew up listening to his music...

5. Favorite Song

Up every evening 'bout half eight or nine
I give my complete attention
to a very good friend of mine
He's quadraphonic, he's a,
he's got more channels
So hologramic,
oh my T V C one five
I brought my baby home, she
She sat around forlorn
She saw my T V C one five, baby's gone, she
She crawled right in, oh my
She crawled right in my
So hologramic,
oh my T V C one five
Oh, so demonic,
oh my T V C one five

Maybe if I pray every, each night I sit there pleading

"Send back
my dream test baby,
She's my main feature"
My T V C one five, he, he just
Stares back unblinking
So hologramic,
oh my T V C one five
One of these nights I may just
Jump down that rainbow way, be with my baby, then

We'll spend some time together
So hologramic, oh my T V C one five
My baby's in there someplace
Love's rating in the sky
So hologramic,
oh my T V C one five

Oh my T V C one five,
oh oh, T V C one five
Oh my T V C one five,

Oh my T V C one five,
oh oh, T V C one five

9. "I'm Afraid of Americans"
More because I am snarky like that than anything. Trent Reznor and David Bowie always seemed like an odd combination to me but hey whatever works for you.

11. Life on Mars? runs through my head often.
But Heroes is my favorite album. The first time I saw Bowie, he was touring in support of Heroes and there's the Fripp/Eno factor as well.

13. Album: Hunky Dory. Songs? Moonage Daydream...
...Queen Bitch, Heroes, Station To Station, Sound and Vision, Heart's Filthy Lesson, Panic In Detroit, Watch That Man, Scary Monsters, TVC 15, Diamond Dogs, 1984, I'm Afraid of Americans, Let's Spend the Night Together...

The list is kinda endless...

Favorite era: Ziggy Stardust for sure. There are few things finer than watching Bowie and Ronson (and their fortunate fans) create rock'n'roll mayhem with "Moonage Daydream" in the live "Ziggy Stardust" flick.
