Alice wanted to try snow tubing, so we went up to Hawk's Nest in NC. We had no grasp whatever what we were supposed to do with the lift tickets; the nice lady behind the counter was a good sport about explaining it to us in detail twice. It was very warm so the tubing conditions were slow, which was lucky for us as we are not people who need a lot of excitement in our life. We both felt that if it had been any faster we would have had heart attacks. But it was fun, silly fun. It was $20 each for almost two hours; we felt we had had our $20 worth of fun after a little more than a half hour. Just as well that we didn't have to use the ski lift; we're fairly scaredy-cat about heights as well.
Most likely the lift tickets will stay on our parkas for a while, but that's more a function of the winter we're (not) having than any desire to pose as ski bums; we probably won't need our parkas again unless an Alberta clipper makes it this far.
