75. DU is a lesser forum without Jiacinto
He knows his stuff, particularly regarding Maryland politics and obscure races and demographic trends around the country. He would start high caliber threads, often analyzing races from a different angle than I was using, and it was very helpful. I hate to see his reputation trashed around here, focusing solely at the end.

At that point no question he was having personal troubles and that spilled over to his DU posts, but the guy had 25,000+ posts and most of them quality. No question he would go on tilt occasionally, like the Nader threads.

I rarely visit Daily Kos but I've seen Jiacinto there. Same basics, known as one of their more conservative members.

I totally missed out on whatever situation caused him to be tombstoned, and ended up looking back and finding it when I realized he wasn't posting anymore. I totally couldn't picture him being a FReeper, so I knew there had to be some other reason he was TS'd. I always liked him, as he tended to be pretty good-natured and I remember some of the interesting music and art/photography threads he used to post.

13. What a scary guy NightTrain was.
Something about cursing out an elderly woman and throwing her diapers at her...that's when I thought, "This guy ain't right."

LongGrain...there was the irk factor, but I really do think that he was harmless. I think he's come out as transgendered now. More power to him--I wish him well.

108. Why did you put "express himself" in quotations?
I thought I knew what went on with him and you back then, but, in all honesty, I don't. I certainly don't know what transpired at that other website. They guy had/has some problems--that's probably true. He may have been creepy. Like I said, the irk factor was definitely there.

I don't think, though, that he posed a danger to anyone, but I could be wrong about that. If I missed something in that whole drama, please let me know.

Regardless of all that, I do think that it's good that he's found a place in his life where he can express his gender identity. Having a relative with gender dysphoria, I can tell you that, unexpressed, it is a huge problem that impacts all areas of life.

112. I'm long done with DU drama.
Nothing in my former post was in any way intended to disparage transgendered people and I make a public apology to you or anyone else if I came across that way. I do hope he's happier and more at peace now. I just don't forget situations where 1.) someone I expressed absolutely no romantic interest toward someone (just the opposite) who continued to post my pictures and try to infer a relationship that was not there and then 2.) months and years later make nasty comments about me on other websites.

He and I came to a peace long ago and I frankly don't care, but I was genuinely a bit nervous for some time due to his repeated, strange behaviors. I probably should have posted directly to LynzM as she knew more about the situation at the time and my response was more an acknowledgment of her.

Like I said, I really don't give a rat's ass about DU drama crap (or any website for that matter). In fact, I'd rather get a root canal or than deal with it again. My comment. My mistake.

That was the way her hubby and she worked...they'd enter a thread that they didn't like, create a huge flame war, and then the thread would get closed. Over and over again they did that.

She was always squarely in the middle of whatever huge drama was going on in the lounge. And he was always two steps behind, with his, "Don't talk to my wife that way" line, even though she started 99% of her own problems.

49. And it was that hatred that ultimately led to his downfall...
when Geddy Lee rose up in a surge of righteous anger and slew CreekDog in the great Battle of Lamneth. And Alex Lifeson used the CreekDog's entrails to fashion new guitar strings, and Neil Peart used his dessicated epidermis for drum skins.

There are those who say, however, that one day the evil CreekDog will rise again, to steal the music of Rush, plunging the Lounge into a long period of darkness, which will not end until that naked guy on the cover of 2112 comes to liberate the planets of the Solar Federation. That's what they say...

50. OMG! He's the reason I formally signed up with DU!
I'd lurked since day one, and just couldn't stand his little freeper rants. So I finally signed up a couple of weeks later, and began verbally thrashing him every chance I could get.

I sorta miss the days when we could use the freepers as chew toys!

60. oh wow...
you could write a novel with all the drama that surrounded that one, but the gist of it was that he and his partner Padraig turned out to be the same person and nobody is quite certain if anything they said was actually true

79. Dookus was a riot
I don't even know what happened there. I wasn't posting for a while then suddenly Dookus was gone.

Same with TruthIsAll, who I rarely agreed with but he had a huge presence here, tons of data. I heard he got baited into arguments a few months after the '04 election, and was tombstoned as a result.

Now that one had some issues. I understand she ultimately found her legs at one of the conservative sites.

Seventhson unwittingly outed himself to me with his cover story that always morphed just enough to sound plausible. The Devil is in the details. He finally did publicly out himself on, what , election night?

94. Anyone remember Catpower2000?
She would go ballistic over gramatical errors. Many a thread erupted in a flame war and they would be on Loungue topics. I also remember Jiacinto, COLiberal, Walt Starr, CoraRose, Cuban Liberal, and Screaming Lord Byron. I found Jiacinto to be a real PITA and a major Lieberman defender. I don't remember Lonstar at all, but I joined DU in early 2002.

104. You know how bad my memory is, so I did enjoy
the reminders people posted here.

Longgrain was the one I knew the best; he was kind of a likable-loser sort of guy until he drank. Which he did, too frequently, and way too much.

I'm not sure if the booze was the trigger for the kind of behavior that got him the Granite Chiclet, but even if it was, there as NO excuse for that behavior, and he got plenty of warnings.
