What is your food obsession?
What food or foods do you obsessively seek out or try to cook the best of?

My major one right now is pizza. I'm trying real hard to cook a perfect pizza and I have a long way to go. Eating a really good one right now and went to the best place in DC for pizza on Saturday.
Others are French fries finally got that one down right thanks to Tony Bourdain.
Beer, that will take a lifetime.
Cheeseburger, so many ways to do it right and wrong.

2. Cheeseburgers.
I find the most important step in getting them right is making sure they are not too thick. I usually make them about a half-inch thick before cooking. That way they cook evenly and you can actually taste whatever seasonings you used.

3. Thai food
I used to be obsessed with chicken with chili, garlic, and basil, the hotter, the better. I would try it in many different restaurants.

I have had sub-obsessions with other common Thai dishes, too. Certain curries.

21. I actually like Famous Daves
not that I am a rib aficianado, I dislike most sweet rib sauces. Very smoky.

There is one at Kentlands.

27. I do smoke the Ribs in a water smoker and Famous Dave's is quite good
Just make sure you order the Ribs "naked" that is, without any sauce. Their dry rub is good and they get a great hickory smoke taste on their ribs.

18. Chocolate!
I'm a major chocoholic.

Other foods I tend to obsess about:

- Spätzle (I'm not brave enough to try to cook it, lol, but it is delicious. :9)

- Sugar snap peas (probably the only one of my "obsess" foods that is somewhat healthy ;))

- Soft pretzels

...and I'm sure there are about a brazillion others. Darn it, now I'm hungry! x( :P

Luigi's for pizza. There was also a good pizza place in my neighborhood (Capitol Hill) but I have since forgotten the name.

Plus they have another restaurant called RFD that has been used for some DC/Protest get togethers.
I think the Brickskeller is in the Guinness book for the most beers of any bar in the world

34. I used to love how the beers would come up on the little dumbwaiters.
I did an internship in DC and some friends came down for a college radio convention. I played tour guide for the weekend -- I took them to Adams Morgan for Ethiopian food, we went to the 9:30 Club to see a band, and then went to the Brickskellar.

DC is a great city to be in if you like to eat and drink!!

31. Rib Eye Steaks and delicacy pizzas.
I have this one pizza I cook that involves regular homemade spaghetti sauce, olives, and crescent rolls. It had a different taste than regular pizza, but my family just loves it.

35. I could eat two pounds of Swedish Fish candy...
...if three pounds weren't available.

I dunno how, but sometime around the age of six, I just got addicted to the things. Decades later, my ardor for them hasn't lessened a bit.
