16. He worked hard to earn it, I tell ya what!
When we first moved here, he was one of the first stray cats
to become a "regular" at the front porch.
And one of the sweetest, most affectionate of the bunch.

He had the greatest way of walking up to my Sweetie, rubbing
against her leg, and then (without appearing to move a muscle)
flopping onto his back to get his belly scratched.

Initially, we called him "that little cinnamon-bellied tomcat";
over time that got shortened to "Tommy".

Then one day he showed up with a broken leg, and we had to choose between
adopting him or letting him get eaten by the next stray dog that he
was no longer able to outrun.

So, we grabbed our sweet stray Tommy, and took him to the Vet.

And we told the Vet to go ahead and neuter him as long as he was gonna be
under anesthesia for the leg, and gonna be a housecat while he recovered.

BUT THEN: after his double surgery, when everyone had gone home for the night,
our sweet little belly-rub-loving guy regained consciousness
and went absolutely APESHIT on the Vet's office.

Even wearing a full-arm cast, he busted open the door of his stainless-steel cage
and rampaged through their exam/surgery room. Whatever he didn't manage
to knock over and break, he sprayed with tomcat musk!

We paid an extra $75 for them to neuter him, and he returned the favor
with many, many thousands of dollars worth of random destruction.
As a fellow mild-mannered male mammal, I just can't help but RESPECT that.

That's when I realized he needed a name that suited him better.
Although we generally call him "Tommy", "Little Buddy", and occasionally
"My Little Colonel Man", his official name on all paperwork is forever
"Colonel Thompson", after the very polite Army Officer who spent his
spare time tinkering in his garage-based machine shop and eventually invented this:

Because I owned one of those once, long ago, and I know what they can do
at close range....and it looks alot like what my purring little Colonel-Buddy
did to that Veterinary office!

That's amazing.

I don't know about why I haven't posted a cat picture. I never felt the urge. Plus, she's living with my Mom now.

23. She turned 24 in november
She is still going strong...she hates the other kitties so she will jump from desk to desk to get her food and litter box which are placed up high out of the way of the other kitties. Every once in a while that PITA Barney will run up and touch her and she flips out. But other than that, I hope to think she has a great life here....I share my food with her, she gets her own litter box, etc.

Barney is offended that Daniel doesn't want anything to do with him, so he bugs her by running up and touching her,

It looks like we also both post at about the same rate since we joined. You have a few hundred more posts and joined a few months earlier.
