Gardeners, need some advice ...

I'm looking to start growing some veggies, simply because the idea of doing it interests me. If I can save some cash for my family at the same time, that's very cool. :)

I'd like to start with a vegetable that can be grown indoors. Yard space isn't really available, so I'll have to use a planter or something like that. Don't like tomatoes, but I'll consider anything else! Suggestions?

Hot mild or bell, they can do very well in a container.

Almost any herb does well in a pot- I keep basil, oregano, rosemary, and mint in pots near my kitchen door...

Peppers, as another poster mentioned, will do well. Probably some varieties of eggplant might work, too. For anything that needs to climb, you'd have to set up some kind of structure.
