Do you know what happens when you drink the Kool-Aid?

Not only do you get saved, not only do you get to spend eternity with Jesus (and you do want to spend eternity with Jesus, don't you? because he loves you!), but you get to deny at a funeral that the dead man had any faults! You get to cut off the dead man's grandson when he tries to tell the assembled "I'm so glad he was so wonderful to YOU all, but . . . ." You get to humiliate the young man.

Bitter? Um. What was your first clue?

I was about to walk out of my mothers funeral. My brother and I had talked to him about how inclusive she was of my Jewish wife and kids, how she cared for her friends and loved life. We talked with him for a long time about her life and what did that Bastard do? He got up and gave a fucking sermon about Jesus. My wife had to hold me down. Thank Goddess, we had a wonderful memorial service for her later in the gardens that she volunteered at.

When I go home next month, we're going to have our own little thing, just what we normally do - sit around, eat, drink, play board games, laugh - just this time we'll be doing it while talking about him. We just need some time together to talk about him. there WAS some good stuff about him. i have a month to dig it up... ;)
