In the 80's my father ran (and lost) for Congress against a horrible, crooked POS ... Mark Siljander. Well guess WHAT? Guess whose just been indited for laundering money for a fucking AFGHANI WARLORD????? Oh yes, that would be REPUBLICAN Mark SILJANDER! Oh sweet karma, she's come home to roost.

And for hilarity ... Dad was telling me a story about some of the local races going on back in the 80's - and a guy by the name of Gilmore was running against the democratic incumbent. Guess what he did? He loaded up a BIG old truck with WATERMELONS, stuck "Vote for Gilmore" signs all over it, then drove to the "black" side of town and handed out watermelons to, you guessed it, black people!!!!!!!! I'm fucking dying over here!!

Isn't that JUST like a republican? Completely clueless and out of touch.

1. I'd love to hear what your dad had to say about that asshat.
It's funny how quickly people have stopped talking about Siljander. Ray-Gun appointed him as a UN ambassador...more of St Ronnie's legacy. :-(

2. Yep ...
Dad says he was a crook then and he's a crook now - in fact, I don't think he has anything nice to say about that guy. ;)

I guess during the last leg of the election, at a point that gave my father no chance to respond, they dumped about 20 grand into negative ads about my dad, saying among other things that he was running for office because he couldn't hold a job. Interesting considering at that point he'd had the same job for 20 years ...

10. I really doubt it.
He ran for Congress once, then State Senate twice ... lost all 3. He spent a lot of his own money on all 3 campaigns - I think he's done.

11. I wish they'd put a spending cap on campaigns...
and offer free broadcast time to all candidates that can get enough signatures on a petition. A candidate's success should not be based on the amount of money they collect.

9. Hmm, the moral compasses of a lot of these characters are going haywire!
Perhaps they can blame it on the impending flip of the magnetic poles?
