Played with a St. Bernard puppy yesterday
God, how cute! Went to the pet-food store and some guy had his 3-month old St. Bernard. The thing was HUGE! Probably already 65 lbs, if not more. Just a big fluffball of joy. I want one!

3. I lived with one once. His name was Pythagoras.
Think housebreaking a small dog is bad? Saints can beat them all. At least Py could. Then his owner dosed him with worm meds and took off for the weekend, figuring since we'd be there we'd watch the dog.

All I can say for that weekend is...holy SHIT.

5. have a friend who has one who thinks...
he's human. He brings him over all the time to my house. He HAS TO BE over 200lbs.My 4 shepperds just stand in awe of him. Then they all play together :) You would have to see 4 shepperds try to take on a mountain in a game of tug of war with my wifes porch rugs :)

7. The only dog I know that can slobber on the ceiling!
I used to raise and train Saints in the 70's. You'll never find a gentler, more great hearted breed. They also have a very sly sense of humor.

6. When I was in grade school my teacher would sometimes bring
her Saint Bernard for the day. He was such a good natured thing and just loved kids. Of course, he looked huge to me since I was only 8-9 years old, but I remember that he filled up the back seat of the car when she brought him to school.

8. They are cute. But make good guard dogs which is a little intimidating when
they are full grown.
