Haven't had good jambalaya since I left Houston.

I know, it's probably better in LA, but you got to get the best you can from where you is.

And prayed/meditated a lot for the benefit of all beings. As I do every day. I hope that saying so doesn't cheapen it, but inspire others to do so as well, which is the only reason that I'd post about it.

And strongly defended Kucinich and his goals on DU, probably to the amusement of others.

Edit: I also engaged strangers in pleasant conversation and smiled if a stranger looked at me.

I told the vet today I feel like a pet clown car. LOL Here's BODHI ... and since I'm here, would you mind terribly ... I've got my bird in my box here...?? Oh, really? Thank you SO SO much for taking the time to look at him too. And, well ... I happen to have one of my sugar gliders in this pouch under my jacket...... Do you think, maybe....???

LOL

I told him I really don't want to be "THAT" person ... and I apologized, but he seems to understand and honestly not mind.

Today was my first day of school. So I don't know anybody there yet, and its entirely possible that some people may find my brand of sarcastic humor annoying.

I think my lit teacher liked my question though. After he was done telling us what he expected out of our papers, mostly along the lines of arguments and research and whatnot, I raised my hand and asked "What about Jonathan Swift style satire?" :P

Took two parking spaces for herself, stayed on cellphone while in convenience store, talking loudly
on cellphone and moving slow because she only had one hand to pick up her change and her items
and then went out to her car and slammed her door into my passenger door! That's when I yelled.

One good thing?? OK, I didn't yell at my son for a 3rd time when he failed to take out the trash. ;)

94. You mean this? - LOL! - Very cute!
Sahra Cynthia Sylvia Stout Would Not Take The Garbage Out - Shel Silverstein

http://www.mste.uiuc.edu/courses/ci407su01/students/north/kristy/Project/K-Poem-Net.html

Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout
Would not take the garbage out!
She'd scour the pots and scrape the pans,
Candy the yams and spice the hams,
And though her daddy would scream and shout,
She simply would not take the garbage out.
And so it piled up to the ceilings:
Coffee grounds, potato peelings,
Brown bananas, rotten peas,
Chunks of sour cottage cheese.
It filled the can, it covered the floor,
It cracked the window and blocked the door
With bacon rinds and chicken bones,
Drippy ends of ice cream cones,
Prune pits, peach pits, orange peel,
Gloppy glumps of cold oatmeal,
Pizza crusts and withered greens,
Soggy beans and tangerines,
Crusts of black burned buttered toast,
Gristly bits of beefy roasts. . .
The garbage rolled on down the hall,
It raised the roof, it broke the wall. . .
Greasy napkins, cookie crumbs,
Globs of gooey bubble gum,
Cellophane from green baloney,
Rubbery blubbery macaroni,
Peanut butter, caked and dry,
Curdled milk and crusts of pie,
Moldy melons, dried-up mustard,
Eggshells mixed with lemon custard,
Cold french fried and rancid meat,
Yellow lumps of Cream of Wheat.
At last the garbage reached so high
That it finally touched the sky.
And all the neighbors moved away,
And none of her friends would come to play.
And finally Sarah Cynthia Stout said,
"OK, I'll take the garbage out!"
But then, of course, it was too late. . .
The garbage reached across the state,
From New York to the Golden Gate.
And there, in the garbage she did hate,
Poor Sarah met an awful fate,
That I cannot now relate
Because the hour is much too late.
But children, remember Sarah Stout
And always take the garbage out!

Shel Silverstein, 1974

66. And that's a good thing!
Most hubbies, like myself, would perish without a loving soul to take care of us.

It is a known fact, that married men live longer than single men.

And married women live shorter lives than single women.

It is, as if, women give us not just love, but life itself.

for that, we thank you.

It does feel a little like tooting your own horn, but I have noticed that many here are severely depressed and feel a kind of worthlessness or hopelessness. 88. This won't sound like much, but
I spent $1.98 on two loaves of bread on the way home for my kids at school tomorrow. $3 in change was all I could scrounge up from my car and pockets, and I didn't have any credit cards on me, so I couldn't splurge for the good 7 grain bread, but I did pay extra to get wheat instead of white. :)

I was down to the last 4 slices in my classroom today, and I had to ask the kids who brought a lunch to please not take any and leave it for the kids who didn't have any lunch at all - and then I had to ask the ones with no lunch to make themselves just half a peanut butter sandwich to make sure everyone who really needed one today got one.

And in the something-nice-someone-did-for-me category, the neighbor across the street called me to say she noticed I left my garage door open, and it's cold out. Sure enough, I completely forgot to close it - it would have been open all night if she hadn't called.

108. I teach at a high school in the Detroit area
I wrote some about it in AspieGrrl's thread in the health forum, so I'm not gonna derail this to go through all that again, but I keep bread and peanut butter in the room so the kids don't go hungry. I started trying to keep something filling in there that they could help themselves to without having to ask after some off-topic class discussions about lunches. I found out one of the kids who should be getting free lunches (but we don't have them) was getting by sometimes on one meal a day - he wasn't eating anything til 6pm, when he got home from school.

One of the kids asked for a recipe for a mulligatawny soup I made a while back. I had a version of it typed up, and it wasn't til she was watching over my shoulder as I opened it on my screen that I remembered I'd made a pretty bad typo - somehow instead of "put the chicken in the pot" I accidentally (I swear) wrote "put the children in the pot."

128. The question you need to ask yourself is this:
What do I want to do with the time I have been granted in this universe?

Remember that it is finite; less than a century. For some, less than half a century...

So, given that you are a sentient being in this universe for such a short time, what do you want to do with the gift you were given?

From what I can tell, you're making the right choices.
