my son got a job!
he's going to sell cars.

I was a bit worried about it, with the economy as it is, but you know, some people make their living selling cars. It's possible my kid could be good at this.

Most importantly, this week, as he was going for the job, interviewing, training, etc. He came out of depression and looked forward to getting up every day. He took pride in dressing up and looking good. He studied for the tests they gave him.

Even if this doesn't work out for him, I think he's learned that having a purpose and a goal is a big part of getting up every day.

I'm happy for him. I'm proud of him.

5. a good car salesman can make upwards of 250,000/year
and very often 100,000 - 150,000 in their first year.

tell him he should see about getting on the used car lot. LOTS of markup there, there can be hefty grosses.

a friend of mine made around 8,000 his first month selling used cars.

good for your son. it's a "churn and burn" environment, long hours, and heavy burnout. but if he sticks it out, he can be a manager in about 2 years, maybe F&I. "veterans" go on to become GMs (general managers) and they get a cut off every unit sold in the house.
