Apparently I've been deemed an undesirable by BevMo
I've been shopping at the same BevMo for a couple of years, but today something different happened. Instead of allowing me to grab my own bottles out of the "high-end" (read: anything better than Gordon's Gin) case, the "associate" took them herself and carried them to the cash register.

In other words, I'm no longer allowed to touch any bottle of liquor worth more than $15 until I actually pay for it.

What the fuck? Has anybody else had this experience?

4. New policy, perhaps?
Maybe they've had to eat a some breakages recently and the manager is getting strict?

I haven't been to BevMo in a couple months, so I haven't shared your experience. I can't say I've seen it go one way or the other.

Apparently I didn't look Richie-Rich enough to actually afford that $30 bottle of tequila. :eyes:

8. Hmmm, I don't know what to tell you.
I worked in retail in college, and when we changed store managers all of a sudden policies that had been ignored by his predecessor were being enforced. When that happened a few customers complained at first, because they were used to the way it was before. Once everyone got used to it, things ran a lot smoother then when we had to old manager.

Or they had a secret shopper, district manager finds out they were slacking on the policy and put the hammer down?

That's just me giving BevMo the benefit of the doubt. Just trying to think of other factors that may not be as visible. I don't know if there's more involved. Did you notice this with other customers?

This is the excuse I need to go buy some scotch? Perhaps I should investigate.
