Okay. I'm going to the hospital for a CAT scan.
Some of you folks may remember me posting about falling and cracking my head bad last Monday. Things have been okay, but I'm still getting some strange symptoms, and my head still has this strange achy/dizziness thing going on. I called the emergency nurse line today, and she recommended I go to the hospital and get a CAT scan.

So tomorrow, I'm taking off work (without pay, I'm out of sick leave) and going to the Emergency Room. I'll get my noggin looked at, and hope they don't find anything too out of the ordinary.

Just thought I'd update you kind folks with what's going on.

1. I for one pray that they do NOT find a cat in your head.
Um, what do CAT scans do again?

Be well!

4. Thanks
It seems to be getting worse instead of getting better as time goes on, which is why I'm concerned. Plus, my history of mental illness just makes me that much more suspicious of any sort of head trauma (I had a concussion when I was two, and I think that may have played a part in my past mental issues).

10. That's EXACTLY what I'm afraid of!
My baseline is probably so far off of "normal", they'd never know whether I needed an operation or an aspirin. What the hell, at least I get to go to the ER again. Let's see, that'll be five trips in the past six months. Yay American medicine!

12. Thanks and I hope all is ok.
I had this done also (concussion, cat scan) and didn't know which I preferred. Something there and fixable, or nothing there and just how it would be. Mine ended up the second and a couple yrs later and just how I am. It can take a while to recover. Best wishes.

14. wow, thanks for sharing this
I didn't know it could take that long to recover. I had a concussion when I was about two years old when I got hit by a tree in a tornado (long before they had CAT scans). I don't think this little escapade was that bad, but it still freaks me out. Better safe than sorry, though!

25. sounds like a plan
I had that happen once. Turned out to be a piece of wax that got dislodged. The nurse took out a syringe and squirted it with warm water, and the problem was fixed. :)

31. When you were two years old? Your parents are lucky then didn't get put in jail. My son
(the older one) had one when he was five, and you wouldn't BELIEVE the interrogation sessions I had to go through at the hospital.

32. It was in a tornado
And I was one of a dozen people that went to the small-town emergency room, along with both parents.

Strangely enough, it's one of my earliest memories. We were in a tent, in the dark, with just a lantern for light. It was a big oak that came down and landed on tent. A bunch of people got hurt. One guy broke an arm, a leg, a bunch of ribs, and some other things. I remember getting X-rayed, and my dad trying to hold me down so they could take the picture.

That's pretty crazy that they'd go after you at the hospital, especially when you're just trying to take care of your son. :(

I have to go for a prostate exam, and I'd much rather have the CAT scan. I haven't had many truly humiliating experiences in my young life, but I suspect this will be one of them. :P Hopefully, though, it will lead to answers about the pain I've been suffering with for years!

by the way, i cracked my head good on the bathroom counter a couple years ago and the headaches and dizziness went on for a few days then subsided.

36. One of the few times I wish I would've used my ass instead of my head
It happened really quick-- one second I'm trying to get to the door, the next I'm lying on my back, seeing stars. Unfortunately, I can't take ibuprofin because of drug interactions, and Tylenol doesn't do anything for me. Guess I'll have to go back to sniffing glue. :)
