The BlueIris Semi-Nightly Poetry Break, 1/27/08
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 09:52 PM by BlueIris
"Echolalia of the Numerologist"

Six stages 12 steps
four horsemen three stooges
lone gunmen two parties
Fortune 500 and one thin dime

Two acres three eights
multiple orgasms ad nauseum
Top 40 bottom dollar mid-life crisis
mark of the beast mark of the beast

Ninth husband 50 summers
nice nude numbers in nasty letters
Too Tall Jones Five Way Scraper
The Seven Warning Signals a capella

Round it up subtract it out
count backwards or sideways from 10
toss and turn the hair from your head—
the columns plead irreconcilable differences

100,000 missing plus or minus 3%
Please be 6' + no exceptions

—Klipschutz

3. My dear BlueIris...
Sorry, but I don't get it...

It does have a stream of interesting images...

But I can't make anything coherent out of them...

I guess I'm just more literal/concrete in my poetry...

Can you explain this one?

6. I think the author was trying to capture a mood.
I read this as a mood piece about the mental turbulence and frustration of a numerologer.

10. yeah, me too
he's the drunken poet on my pink Dream Date game board.

He's as much a descendant of the beats and Rimbaud as Dylan.

from Step Right Up

...Don't be caught with your drawers down
You can step right up, step right up

That's right, it filets, it chops, it dices, slices,
Never stops, lasts a lifetime, mows your lawn
And it mows your lawn and it picks up the kids from school
It gets rid of unwanted facial hair, it gets rid of embarrassing age spots,
It delivers a pizza, and it lengthens, and it strengthens
And it finds that slipper that's been at large
under the chaise lounge for several weeks
And it plays a mean Rhythm Master,
It makes excuses for unwanted lipstick on your collar
And it's only a dollar, step right up, it's only a dollar, step right up

'Cause it forges your signature
If not completely satisfied, mail back unused portion of product
For complete refund of price of purchase
Step right up
