Do radio stations broadcast at, like, 2-3 in the morning?

For some reason, I've always wondered that.

Do they usually have DJ's working at those hours?

1. Most do, at least in the States,

but these days few have overnight jocks, relying instead on syndicated programming straight off the satellite feed.

The exception is AM "daytimer" stations that must sign off (or broadcast with minimal power) at local sunset to avoid interference problems.

2. It just depends. I think some of our radio stations

have overnight DJs, while some play syndicated shows... There's at least one gospel station I know about that just puts the old CD player on shuffle, and lets it run unattended all night.

3. Air America

is on 24-7 here in the Phoenix area. Even though it is am its signal is strong and clear even after sundown. The local am sports and one of the conservative talk stations also have strong signals.
