7. I saw a commercial for the Oscars on TV the other day.

It seemed pretty clear to me they're going ahead with them. When you think about it, it would NOT have been in the best interests of the writers to continue their strike and effectively force the cancellation of the Oscars. That would NOT have gained them any support, in the industry.
