Fell on ice today
Edited on Sun Feb-03-08 04:44 PM by midnight armadillo
Oh this sucks. I was walking down a steep hill with my 4 year old and slipped on a patch of ice. Landed directly on my spine between my shoulder blades. Felt like a sledgehammer blow. Ow ow ow. I think no actual injuries.

To top it all off I have a nasty cold, am running a fever, and have the chills so bad my teeth are chattering even with a heavy bathrobe and a sweatshirt on.

:-(

1. ouch!
I fell on the ice last year and broke my arm. Didn't even realize it because I hit my head do hard... No concussion but I couldn't open my car door or even touch my face.

Take care and feel better soon!

3. You need a soak in the jacuzzi
:-). I fell on ice last year and hit the back of my head so hard.....then my whole body, especially my neck, ached for weeks. It did feel like a sledgehammer.

Hope you recover quickly.

5. That's a great idea. I second it.
Ease all those muscles. Can you get a massage this week?

4. Ouchie!
That's never fun, no indeed. I did that two years ago, trying to keep my toddler from running into the street. Yeah, I stopped him... by taking him with me as I fell flat on my ass and spine.

No permanent damage, but it knocked the wind out of me!

6. See somebody, if you can
A few years ago I took a bad fall during aikido practice, and it got worse instead of better over the course of a week. By the time I saw the doctor I was in complete agony.

7. it was aikido that saved my skull
7 years of aikido (which I miss dearly) left the "hold your head up" in a fall part of ukemi pretty much hardwired. A head blow that hard probably would have given me a concussion.

I am going to a doc in the morning since I also have a 102 fever. X-rays, the flu, and the Pats lost. Blah.
