I think that Manning break from the sack was far more spectacular
than the actual catch.

7. The whole thing
was amazing. The catch was fantastic, but Manning throwing it AFTER that break-away made it spectacular.

23. I have some BIG problems with that part of it.
If the Patriots drive Eli to the ground, they get flagged for 15 yards for roughing the QB. The refs really ate their whistle on that one, and the play should have been blown dead by that point. This is a big pet-peeve of mine not just in this game, but throughout the NFL, where protecting the QB is very, very inconsistently called and it continually leads to escape plays like Eli's.

Disclaimer - Patriots did not deserve to win, and I am in no way saying they should have if not for the refs.

3. That was awesome!
Even better that it contributed to the Patriot's demise.

4. The catch was nothing, Eli not getting sacked was the big play.
If they sacked him, game over.

6. But that was a part of that great catch
Eli got out of the sack and Tyree caught the ball using his helmet

13. Exactly!
It was the play from start to finish. How he got away in an almost impossible fashion, to how he got himself set and composed, to how he was able to get such a good throw off, to how all of a sudden, with no receivers in site as the camera's panning the ball in flight, Tyree comes into view and you see the ball fall into his hands, as he clutches it to his helmet, falls to the ground with his back bent, and holds onto the ball. No flags. Completion. Jaws dropping. Best. Play. Ever.

24. I agree completely.
The NFL has been very inconsistent on this matter. If the Warren drives Manning to the ground, he'd be flagging for roughing the QB. And yet they don't blow the whistle when he is being held up. The grey area is far too much.

5. The one with Tyree - where he held on to the ball with his helmet
First thing we thought too. And thought if the Giants didn't win the Superbowl that this caught would become totally forgotten

19. Eli just refused to quit!
Refused to lose. Wow. Has it ever happened before that two brothers both have Super Bowl rings, in consecutive years, and are both Super Bowl MVPs?

Little brother came of age last night.

that people would be talking about that play 25 years later, when he was my age.

They did and they will.

17. It was an awesome play and both players were incredible.
Manning for avoiding what looked like an inevitable sack and Tyree for holding on to the ball, for making that catch.

26. What's amazing is from one of the angles, that ball never touched the ground.
I thought when he first went down, the point of the ball hit the ground. but it didn't.

27. I disagree
The Pittsburgh Steelers trailed the Oakland Raiders 7-6, facing fourth-and-10 on their own 40-yard line with 22 seconds remaining in the game and no time-outs. It was a game winning play.

That being said, what Eli Manning and David Tyree did was nothing short of spectacular. Possibly the most exiting play in Super Bowl history.
