I've never been enough of a roadie to go beyond ultegra. The bike was something to endure between kicking ass in the swim and chasing people down on the run. When I had the kilo I did have spinergies on it for racing. It was a quick bike, but more important, with the forward geometry I was able to put up some of my fastest runs coming off it.

I have been riding the same group on various bikes for 3 years! I'm actually thinking of doing a sprint tri toward the end of the year.

65. been racing bikes 6 yrs...

raced in the pool as a youngster (8-14)
quit and picked up cross country and track (14-18)
started swimming in college to lose that flab brought on by late night pizza, rugby and beer
started racing at 20 with the intent to do triathlons, but enjoyed sprinting at the end of races too much to pursue it.

Me and a friend started a coaching company, and we're golden on Cycling, but there is a large market in the triathlon sector, so I'm gonna start doing a couple, to get the feel.

67. You will rarely win a triathlon in the water, but you can lose one there...

IMHO and 43 triathlons, to win you must bike fast. The longer the triathlon the more important the bike is because you spend proportionately so much more time on the bike. Best wishes.
