I'm thinking of buying a scooter - which one should I look at?
I also posted this in the Motorcycle/Scooter Group....

At the moment, I'm just exploring the idea. There some details that have to be worked out, like where am I going to be able to park it where I live, etc. I also live in Los Angeles, where operating a scooter could be dangerous to your health.

So far there a few Vespa models that look fun...

The Vespa LX

or
The Vespa GT60

What works for the scooter drivers? Is there any of you in California?

Let me know.

Thanks. :-)

5. How could you consider Scooters and not include this masterpiece

I mean where can you store your beers and keep them cold on a Vespa?

6. awesome! I ride a Vespa too!
actually, have a couple of them, but they are vintage. I have not ridden either of those two models, but have heard good things about them. Things to consider:

buy something a bit more powerful than you think you'll want, because as you become more comfortable, you'll wish you had if you don't. You don't need anything crazy big or fast, but this is a common thing I've noticed with newer riders. Also, if you end up hauling around a passenger, the extra power is good there too.

So along those lines, I would suggest you invest the extra (if you can) and get the GT. It will hold up better, hold it's value better, and will be more fun once you get comfy with it. A 50 is fine for getting around a campus or something, but most top out pretty slow even for a scooter, so that limits you both locally and for going out of town on it.

If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a PM or whatever, and I can probably find some better info - I have a ton of scooter friends.

Also: despite them being loads of fun, remember to always wear your helmet and to pay attention - most "cagers" (car drivers) don't notice bikes of any size/shape. You're going to love it though: I swear mine are like insta-smile on wheels, and a great cure for a blah day.

7. I wish they would make a 3-wheeler!
I'd so buy one then. It would have a trunk for groceries, etc., and I wouldn't it's weight at stop lights (bad knee and hip). I'd think there would be a big market for 3-wheelers!
