So bush is riding his bike down a residential street

a girl with a small box on the lawn catches his eye.

bush stops and peers into the box, and sees 4 small kittens, just a few days old.

he asks the girl about the kittens. the girl smiles, and says "they are republican kittens!"

bush chuckles, pats the girl on the head and finishes his bike ride.

about two weeks later, he's having lunch with cheney. in the course of conversation, bush tells cheney about the little girl with the republican kittens.

since it was a nice day, bush and cheney go for a walk to see the kittens.

sure enough, the girl is on the lawn with the now pouncing and lively kittens. she waves to bush, and they go over to her

bush says "tell the president what kind of kittens these are"

the little girl smiles from ear to ear and says "they are Democratic Kittens!!!!'

bush is taken aback, "but a couple of weeks ago you told me they were republicans."

the little girl giggles, "they were, but mommy says their eyes have opened."
