And it hasn't even started yet! I'm probably only 2-3 inches into the 9-13 inches predicted by tomorrow. Is it fricking spring yet??

1. jeez, it's spring here, and I'm not ready for another round of flea
season - wish it'd stay cold a little longer! Was 72 here today, in western NC.

I don't envy you your drive, though. Do you have to go in tomorrow?

2. I decided to take a snow day tomorrow. Just not worth the hassle for me. I can't convince my wife
though. She wants to save her vacation days for nice weather. I just checked the updated forecast and they are now calling for 12-18 inches of snow. OMG! Why didn't I buy a snowblower??!!

4. if it makes you feel any better-
this is only the second winter that i have really gotten any use out of my snow blower. i bought it the year that we had about 2' of snow in december, 5 or 6 years ago (probably more)? there were none to be had when i went looking so i ordered the big honker from troy built. they sent it to the wrong place, and by the time they got it here, we had no more snow that winter. or really any winter since.
mostly it gets dragged out for a little flurry just to keep it from seizing up. this year has been the perfect combination of lots of snow, and a 17 year old boy who has finally discovered the miracle of allowance.
now is we can just get it through his head about steps.

6. You and I are not that far away from each, so you have the same situation that I had. Why bother
getting a snowblower when it barely even snows? Now all of a sudden, this winter has been hell. My back is going to be screaming tomorrow.

10. DH and i went back and forth for years.
my beef was that we didn't have a garage, so no good place to put it. then that year, it snowed and snowed, and i broke my little finger but didn't know it. i lost my mind, and had to have one. and why get one if not the big one?
want me to send the kid over?

22. seriously
i would shove it into my truck and drag it over there, except i am medically restricted from driving at the moment. plus the truck has a low tire from sitting. haven't been able to drive it for a while.
but if you are really close to me, yeah, $10 and a coke would probably do it. it is going to be painful to shovel this stuff, methinks.

24. I seriously appreciate it, but I'll be just fine. I took tomorrow off and I'll just take my time.
You're awesome. I'm crossing my fingers, because right now it's only misting, so maybe we'll catch a break. The latest update said only 9-13 between now and tomorrow afternoon, so the snow total is heading in the right direction.

3. Holy crap! Where are you?
I'm in the South 'burbs, and we're only getting rain at the moment. They're only* predicting 4-6 inches tonight around here the last I checked. (I might need to check again...)

* "only" - ain't that a bitch?

8. Way up by the Wisconsin border, right where that nasty storm line seems to be settling down for the
night. My friends just across the border are expecting way more, I heard over 2 feet, so I guess I'm lucky. If that storm systems slips just a bit south, I'm going to be in the weeds big time.

While I was driving, the weather switched from heavy snow, to light snow, to rain, to sleet, to hail. It was wild. I'm still biting my nails waiting for my wife to make it home.

11. Oh. I heard that you guys were gonna get socked tonight.
Looks like we're going to miss the worst of it. (I hope!)

I'm so fucking sick of snow. My wife told me that this has been the worst winter, snow-wise, in twenty-something years. I didn't look it up because I was busy looking for the heating pad since my back was sore from shoveling.

13. Still raining where I am also....
Due west of downtown Chicago.

Is winter over yet? The groundhog at Brookfield Zoo refused to come out on Saturday. Time for the daffodils to start blooming.

14. Andy Avalos on NBC 5 said that an average winter is 23 inches and we have had 37 so far, that was
before tonight. So we are way ahead of the average, but I'm not sure how far back this rates in history. This is the most snow that I remember in quite some time though.

23. i remember the record setting winter well. 78-79 then 79-80
78-79 we got 80", it was just incredible. i was newly divorced, working 2 jobs, and could barely get my pinto in and out of my driveway. couldn't believe it could get worse, but the following year we got 88". my sister, who i had been rooming with, moved to california. people bought not only snow blowers but trucks with snow blades, expecting to get rich.
hasn't been a winter anything like it since.

9. I was unlucky enough to be born here and can't move away because all of my family is right here. I'm
trying to convince them all to move to Arizona. Then we could have a Kennedy style compound or something. Maybe even start up a commune. :-)

16. Oh sure, we know how to drive in it. The problem is, we all drive real slow in it! You either have
people going 10 miles an hour or 70 miles an hour. The 70 mile guy wipes out and screws it up for the rest of us. Plus, we've been pretty spoiled, it really hasn't been bad snow around here for quite awhile, so people forget what to do.

25. Well Mr. Grumpy, technically, my mother MADE me live in Chicago.
If my family and my wife's family didn't live entirely within a few miles of me, I'd have been outta here years ago.

27. That's really the thing, we've really been pretty spoiled. It's not been a bad winter for awhile now
I can take the subzero cold, that doesn't bother me much. The snow hasn't been really bad for years and even that I can take, just as long as it's not a foot at a time. I guess if it was like this more often I'd get used to it like the folks around Colorado.
