why would anyone feed a 13 month old LUNCHABLES??
I watched a toddler today while his mom went for an interview. She brought ham-cheese-cracker lunchables, and lunchables with teddy grahams and strawberry dip, and baby versions of fig bars for him to eat. Geez! Sugar! Preservatives and thickeners! Imitation food!

Is this common? Are babies eating this junk?

1. Too young...
IMHO, there is plenty of baby food available for toddlers. Lunchables seem to be choke-ables. I wouldn't feed them to a kid that young.

2. I wouldn't feed those to ANY kid! Don't those have nearly a full days supply of fat and sodium?
All in one tiny little snack? Yuck.

Cheerios is one of the best baby snacks. It helps with their finger thumb dexterity too.

3. While what you describe is ignorant at best, it pales in comparison to the time I saw...
...this huge woman (taller than me, & I'm 6') reach down and slap her toddler in the face, outside a grocery store. I was 20' away and could hear the slap as if I were standing right there. The poor kid was probably barely potty trained.

His face was red with pain & embarassment; her face was red with anger. My face was red with disdain as I glared through her eyes to the back of her brain.

As I was already walking in toward the store while she was walking out, she couldn't keep it up -- she blinked and looked away. I can only hope that the worst thing she ever did to her kid after that was to feed him a lunchable.

I'll never forget the look of pain and humiliation on that tiny kid's face.

4. good god
some people just don't get it. Hell, they don't even understand a time out until they're about 3! How the fuck could someone hit a child that small? My baby is 15 months old. When she had turned 1, a friend of mine asked me if I had to spank her yet! I was like...what the fuck would I hit her for? Makes me wonder what goes on in his house.

5. It's hard to resist the urge to punch people like that.
I really hate, hate people who beat children.
