1. Every time you tombstone a Democrat, God votes Republican.

4. How is someone a Democrat if they don't vote Democratic?

8. To me, Dennis Kucinich is Democratic. The others won't even mention impeachment
or disaster capitalism, letting me know that they won't do anything about it once in office. To me, this not only emboldens those who are causing the problems, but it gives them not even a symbolic slap on the wrist for shitting upon the country for seven plus years. There of course is much more than this involved, and at stake. Where were they as it all went down? Why aren't they doing something, like Dennis is doing, to try to stop it, or even question it?

Those who are complicit with Republicans don't strike me as Democratic.

Have you donated to Dennis' campaign to keep his seat? I'm out of work but I would in a heartbeat if I had any cash flow whatsoever.

21. I donated to his presidential campaign back when I had income.
Those days are no more, and hopefully not no more for much longer.

That aside, my definition of "Democrat" (in the context of my original comment) is someone who votes for the Democratic Party candidate. If someone doesn't vote Dem, they're not a Democrat. If someone posts saying that they won't vote for the Democratic candidate and are in earnest, they're not a Democrat and should get a nice slab of granite on their user profile page, especially since DU rules state, "Members are expected to be generally supportive of progressive ideals, and to support Democratic candidates for political office," and
Constructive criticism of Democrats or the Democratic Party is permitted. When doing so, please keep in mind that most of our members come to this website in order to get a break from the constant attacks in the media against our candidates and our values. Highly inflammatory or divisive attacks that echo the tone or substance of our political opponents are not welcome here.

You are not permitted to use this message board to work for the defeat of the Democratic Party nominee for any political office. If you wish to work for the defeat of any Democratic candidate in any General Election, then you are welcome to use someone else's bandwidth on some other website.

Democratic Underground may not be used for political, partisan, or advocacy activity by supporters of any political party or candidate other than the Democratic Party or Democratic candidates. Supporters of certain other political parties may use Democratic Underground for limited partisan activities in political races where there is no Democratic Party candidate.

Do not post broad-brush smears against Democrats or the Democratic Party.

23. Those are good rules. I appreciate the positive focus.

However, I cannot simply place a party hat on the country and cheer that everything is going to be fine and dandy. It's not that simple. I work for the solution of the issues that are at hand, and that are not being given the proper amount of attention to actually solve.

I'll likely fold and vote for whatever Dem candidate ends up running against the Republican, but don't expect me to cease raising the uncomfortable issues until they are solved. The corporations and international ultrarich who need the soldiers to stay in Iraq won't be leaving the White House when the Democrat gets in... The economy cannot withstand a continued Iraq invasion, and those who are profiteering from it. Bush is merely a figure head. The policies much be changed, and the Presidential candidates are eerily silent on this issue.

Edit: Removed a dangling participle.

31. Totally
There's no substantial difference between Clinton and Obama. They're both the same kind of coward who take the same cowardly (non)positions on the same things. I'll vote for whichever of them is on the ballot in November and try to get others to do the same, but I don't have to like it.

3. I Won't Vote Democrat
But then again I can't. Being a Canadian, I can't vote in your elections. But if I were an American, I would vote for the Dem nominee whoever it was.

5. Since I am one of those people, I must add...
...true Democrats should be flooding Dennis Kucinich's coffers to guarantee that he regains his seat. He's the only one brave enough to take on the powers that be, and look what they're doing to him. Help save the true Democratic voice of the party.

I understand where you're coming from. I have serious doubts about both Obama and Clinton and their willingness to stand up to the corporate machine. Still, either of them would be a better choice than McCain.

10. I Don't Think So
A democrat may vote for lots of other democrats and choose not to vote for the democratic nominee.

I do think that a mod warning might be in order, and if it persists, a suspension, then tombstoning. (Unless it is a troll or freeper which are prolly the same thing)

13. Please don't hate me.
I spend some of my time here reminding people of the core issues, especially the ones that have been nearly silenced along with their champion, Dennis Kucinich.

In that the two remaining candidates won't even mention them, I get very worried...

And to silence those who try to speak to the heart of the problems facing Democracy itself, to tombstone them for not being a blind follower would be rather non-Democratic.

Is it pick on Peake day? If so, it's obviously the same price as Dennis is being forced into. Truthtellers aren't very popular...

16. Yep.
I'm all for pushing the party to the left, but when the rubber meets the road, any D is better than any R, and people should understand that.

All those dillweeds who were running around in 2000 chirping, "There's no difference between Gore and Bush, they're both big ol' corporatists" should have learned their lesson. Wow, doesn't a President Gore sound great about now?

At some point you have to declare your allegiance to Democratic ideals, and the Democratic Party. Blind allegiance is not good, but the alternative is another 4 years of the Bush Doctrine.

22. No.
"I will vote for the republican" sure, but not "I won't vote for the nominee."

This site welcomes minors. It welcomes foreigners. It welcomes reformed felons. Hell, it welcomes people too lazy to vote.

So I could be some foreign, crooked, lazy ass crumbsnatcher and not vote for the nominee and I'd be welcome, but if I wrote in another democrat because I thought they'd make a better president I wouldn't be?

Fuck that shit.

32. I voted yes - this is a DEMOCRATIC forum. If one wants to just hang around, fine . .
.
.
.

But to state on an open Democratic Forum that you won't vote for a Democratic candidate

You should be banned(tomb-stoned I guess is the word here)

Discussion is welcome, but to state that you will not for "the" nominee, - that suggests you are in the wrong forum.

If you decide just NOT to vote - I'd say that's ok.

But when the nominee is chosen, and you decide to vote (ack - Republican) otherwise - keep it to yourself.

Just my Canuk Opinion.
