I don't get it either --- I've seen a number of threads here lately with people complaining about how dumb it was. Yet - when 40 YO Virgin was out there was thread after thread of HIGH PRAISE. In FACT, the only reason I even bothered to watch 40YOV is BECAUSE Duers went on and on about how AWESOME it was. Well - my first impression and lack of desire to see 40YOV was the correct one. I didn't think it was funny at ALL. Dumb, actually.

But I should add that the script and plot could have been at least competent but somehow ended up like a made for TV no-expletive deleted cheap DVD. A bunch of decent one-liners but in whole a C- movie.

A. The cop shit ended on a dufus note. Truly stupid.

B. One star had a, um, moral problem with sex with his drunk wanna-be-love? What the hell ever. They curse and watch porn but can't act like normal 17-18 year olds in the pinch?

C. The curly haired jerk off moron king scores the decent chick at the end? Beyond impossible and even funny or touching and just a tad gross.


Fuckin' hell Caddy Shack had a better plot as did Fast Times.

OTOH, my DH and I turned off "40 Year Old Virgin" after 20 minutes.

I also love the Sarah Silverman show and dislike "The Family Guy," so, I'm clearly out of sync with most DU Lounge Lizards.
