1. I've like him
for many years. Back in the 70's he had a show on Saturday nights from Canada. I used to love his bad jokes that he cracked up to.

3. Yes. All of them.
Martin Yan is just:

1) chop the meat
2) stir fry

admittedly I have not watched in 10 years.

Which is what is so appealling about him.
We feel as if we too could make it if we follow his simple directions.

8. Plus, at times he does some badass stuff with the cleaver of his.
I also like his travel segments to Chinatowns around the world. I must visit San Francisco Chinatown someday.

17. Well that's a charitable way of looking at it
Although I don't think the average person could attempt the chopping he does without following it up with a visit to the Emergency Room.

:hi:

9. I remember him.
He got his start in Toronto.

His show was called "Yan Can Cook".

13. i'd wait for the reruns, just to try to copy the recipes
I love cajun/deep southern food, and his stuff always came out so good...

I have a few of Paul Prudhomme's cookbooks, but it's just not the same... too complicated and 'pretty'.

15. They should release all of Justin Wilson's cooking shows on DVD.
They'd be big sellers.

21. I'm a pretty committed Alton Brown man myself.
I really enjoy the science and theory behind the food--more even than learning about individual dishes. Plus since he has a background n TV production as opposed to restaurant work Good Eats is very entertaining and visually distinct.

But I am a sucker for a good cooking show. And to be honest I am unfamilar with Martin Yan.
