So, they caught my ex two days ago...
Non-support-$10,000 cash only. Supposedly he hasn't worked in three years but was able to bond out last night with no real problems.

I bet that's the last time I hear from him for a couple of years.

1. Awesome!
That's fantastic!

When do you get the check? (Don't hold your breath.) ;)

2. I'm not holding my breath.
I'd like that entire amount paid to bond as soon as he skips court. (In mid-April.)

$10,000 could buy a nice summer vacation and a few Girl Scout camp weeks.

3. I don't understand why he was able to bond out!
:wtf:

I mean, isn't that the whole point of arresting dead beat parents?

In some state, they can't get out until they pay.

I hope you do get some of that money!

A College Fund for your children would be awesome!

5. It was cash only
so I guess they figure if he skips not only can they issue a bench warrant but the money from the bail can be used for back child support.

And he owes this amount for just one child. The actual amount owed is nearing $15,000 now.

6. Thank you!
I hope it does too.

She really wants a piano so if we get a bit of support that can go to payments or a decent used one. And of course Girl Scout camp.

11. check craigslist in your area for pianos
around here, they have free pianos (in the free section, of course) listed ALL the time. (2 in the last two days)

I had years of child support battles, ranging from simple nonpayment to absolute OUTRAGE when he was confronted by police for it (you wouldn't believe how self-righteous and angry he was that he had to follow the law!), to his employer withholding child support from his paycheck - and pocketing it.

13. I've been checking but
most have been too far of a drive and when I could finally get a U-Haul it was already gone.

And I heard that my ex resisted arrest. I'd have paid to see them take him down!

15. Do you have a conservatory
of music in your area? I know that quality pianos can be gotten at a very reasonable pricing during their "sales".

Additionally, wishing you super big luck in retrieving some of the dollars owed to you and your daughter.

16. We have a local college that
has sales on occasion but they've always been for grands instead of a inexpensive little upright.

And that's for the luck. We really need it.

8. He had the 10 grand
they couldn't exactly keep him. That was the amount on the warrant and he paid it.

At least he did spend one night in jail.

14. I'm sure he's long gone.
He won't stick around-he never did.

We're better off without him.

21. He had ten grand and couldn't care for his child!
What the hell is wrong with people?

My STBE owes me about the same. Hasn't paid me any support since moving out two years ago. (I just hired a new lawyer to actually get me some child support.)

I, like you, know I will never see a penny.

BTW: Be sure to check out the GS financial aid -- it may not be much, but it will help a little with camp.

23. I plan on applying for financial aid
as soon as camp info is available. And she sold nearly 500 boxes of cookies this year. $15 for every one hundred boxes towards camp fees will help somewhat also.

It just makes me angry. I helped put him through school and once he was done he disappeared. Now that I'd like to complete any kind of certification (not a degree yet-no way I can afford to do that and have money to live off of. I've checked) he has long disappeared and refuses to help out. My continued education could only help out our little family in the long run. And of course I'd love to be able to buy things for her that her friends have but she does not.

He can stay away from us now. He's been out of her life since before birth. She doesn't know him at all. But he should still be responsible.

And I'm sure the ten grand made him quite angry. It took money away from his video games and his new electronic equipment.

9. Good for you. That was like my Dad.
Mom threw the bum out in 1960 after many beatings (don't ask). Zero child support ever gotten from him, and he disappeared until 1974, when at 22 I got a call out of the blue from him. Went and saw him, with my younger brother, out of curiosity. Didn't go back. Six weeks later, he was dead suddenly, and I had to ID the body at the morgue and arrange disposal. That was my relationship with my father.

I'm flying down to see my grown daughter in Florida next month. You bet her Dad has always been there for her. Your ex-husband is an idiot in more ways than he knows. And you are probably lucky to have him out of your life, although I hope you keep going after him, because he owes his kids.

12. Supposedly he has other children
born after my daughter but refuses to acknowledge them either. All he wants are boys.

And damn right I'll keep after him! My baby deserves his money. (She deserves a better man than him in her life. Then again, he's never been in her life.)

17. Update:
Got a call from a friend in the middle of the night. He stated that he was informed just a few minutes ago from another phone call that the ex is moving out of state immediately. The person called him because they said I deserved to have that info passed on.

I knew it was too good to be true.

19. No bail bondsman.
His was cash-only. A friend bailed him out and supposedly he paid the friend back-in cash.

Rumor for the past couple of years has been that he's dealing drugs.

22. Exactly.
He's not a dumb man by any means. He's paid back his friend and now plans to skip.

He'll do what he's supposedly been doing for a few years now-sell drugs and maintain a decent lifestyle under another person's name.

No biggie for him but I hope he gets caught holding sometime soon.
