3. Ray Chales was a bad ass
He came to play this big high falutin', black tie fund raiser at Missouri State when I was there in early 90s. I was working lights and the show was way delayed, even though he was in the house.

Word eventually got out that he/his people refused to proceed until they got paid up front as they'd agreed. Some big wigs literally had to go out and pull something like $12,000 total IN CASH from their ATMs.

Stick to 'em, Brother Ray!!!

6. I LOVE that album
I should buy a turntable just so I can listen to it again (all of my records are at my parents' house - need to get some of them back). I love the truth and honesty of the title and conception. I can't imagine a country album coming out now called that, and I can't imagine an r&b/rock artist making a country record now, without it being slightly ironic.... ok, that's the rock players - I can't imagine the r&b artists doing it at all. Kanye West does country? I doubt it. Usher? I think he'd make a klezmer album before a country one.
