...we hate about republicans?
  • Bloody minded.
  • Slave owners.
  • Practiced liars.
  • Eco-vandals.
  • Sex maniacs.
  • Forever demanding more.
  • Fickle.
  • Only interested in you when they want something.

The OP has plunged into waters I have been afraid to enter for many years. I have always wondered about Cat People. Gimme ol' Farty Gus the Golden Retriever anytime.

3. Tiffany. Siamese Birman/Burmese cross.
And I just wish that she (like children) were as sweet when awake.

Right now I'm being told: "Get up and open the bloody door now." In two minutes time the same demand will be repeated from the other side of the door. And there will be a repeat performance at 4 am. (Always for 2 bloody mouthfuls of dry food.)

Oh and I missed out on "Insanely jealous."

23. Relatively settled in...
thanks!

And yes, the house sold. However, after reprehensor's arrival here, I had a...shall we say...unpleasant separation from my job, so neither of us are working right now. I call this..staring into the abyss. Fortunately, we have the house sale money. I'm just hoping we won't have to be using it to live on soon. Our COBRA payments would be more than our rent.

I have been in the process of interviewing with another place (that I applied for the day I knew I was getting sacked), it's just a matter of them making the decision and letting me know, now. It's kind of nervewracking. So keep your fingers crossed for us.

12. Kitties rock
Mine are sweet and nice and friendly and like to cuddle up next to me on the couch. And they're so cute that it's almost unbearable.

Personally I've always wondered what was up with people who prefer dogs - it's like they need a master/slave relationship and want their pet to be obedient and conforming and stuff. Seems far more Republican to me than just hanging out with cats on terms of equality and letting them be who they are and do what they want. ;)

21. Think I saw a study somewhere...
...showed that pubbies and conservatives preferred dogs, whereas libs and dems favored cats.

Not by a huge (hugh?) margin, but a significant one...

My four are autocratic, a bit demanding, and have an ENORMOUS sense of entitlement (however that's normal with cats)...but they're also friendly, well-mannered, social, and they look after me quite as much as I look after them.
It works out.

15. Awww...what a beautiful cat!
Is she a Tonkinese? I've been told that they are a hybrid of Siamese and Burmese cats, but I could be wrong. I have a Tonkinese named Sierra, and your Mellie looks like my kitty (your cat has a darker coat, but their body shape and "look" are very similar). Here are a couple of pictures of her:

20. Where do pets come from?
A newly discovered chapter in the Book of Genesis has provided the answer to "Where do pets come from?"

Adam and Eve said, "Lord, when we were in the garden, you walked with us every day. Now we do not see you any more. We are lonesome here, and it is difficult for us to remember how much you love us."

And God said, I will create a companion for you that will be with you and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will love me even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourselves."

And God created a new animal to be a comp anion for Adam and Eve.

And it was a good animal.

And God was pleased.

And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and Eve and he wagged his tail.

And Adam said, "Lord, I have already named all the animals in the Kingdom and I cannot think of a name for this new animal."

And God said, "I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him DOG."

And Dog lived with Adam and Eve and was a companion to them and loved them.

And they were comforted.

And God was pleased.

And Dog was content and wagged his tail.

After a while, it came to pass that an angel came to the Lord and said, "Lord, Adam and Eve have become filled with pride. They strut and preen like peacocks and they believe they are worthy of adoration. Dog has indeed taught them that they are loved, but perhaps too well."

And God said, I will create for them a companion who will be with them and who will see them as they are. The companion will remind them of their limitations, so they will know that they are not always worthy of adoration."

And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam and Eve.

And Cat would not obey them. And when Adam and Eve gazed into Cat's eyes, they were reminded that they were not the supreme beings.

And Adam and Eve learned humility.
And they were greatly improved.

And God was pleased

And Dog was happy.

And Cat didn't give a shit one way or the other.

I can't take any credit for this. My SIL sent it to me and it seems so appropriate for this thread I had to post it.

30. Dogs guard our homes and families
Help herders herd, detect dangerous substances, help the blind navigate, bring companionship to shut-ins, entertain us, are supremely interested in our lives, help us hunt and retrieve prey, help transport us, consider us part of their tribe and have no greater desire than to be with us and serve us unconditionally. They've always been there for us and it's the same anywhere on this planet.

Perhaps the most genetically adaptable animal known, the symbiosis between humans and dogs was necessary and welcome by both sides.

If any one animal can be regarded as the single most animal responsible foe helping man become civilized, I'd say it was the dog.

Cats, on the other hand, were opportunists who only showed up after civilization became a fact. And their greatest desire is to be fed and left alone to roam around at their leisure.

Cats are also known carriers of a parasite that make people crazy, called Toxoplasma gondii.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/09/magazine/09_10_catcoat.html?_r=1&ex=1197954000&en=668c9d95d272921c&ei=5070&emc=eta1&oref=slogin

With all this, no wonder why I like dogs better than cats.

31. I have to say this...
My roommates have two cats, and their personalities just-plain-SUCK. I'll come home from work and they're meow-ing away for food and water. I have no problem feeding them, but I told my roommates that I will NOT clean the litter box; even after they're fed, they won't even let me approach them and pet them ( they actually swipe at me with their claws ).

I had two dogs growing up, and miss them terribly. Both died from canine leukemia. They were always there for you, and didn't beg at the table nor were they lap-dogs. They were pretty self-sufficient and never any trouble. In fact, I find that I could approach any dog and all I have to do is hold out my hand to them ( apparently a sign of trust ). Cats, I find to be extremely boring and, at times just plain vicious.

My next apartment, I may look into getting a dog...I'm still thinking about it.
