Prayers and good thoughts for Lelapin and her friend?

One of Lelapin's best friends (they've known each other since 3rd grade) tried to take her own life yesterday. They are extremely close and live in the same dorm. Her friend is like a daughter to me.

She didn't succeed and is in the hospital for a few days.

Lelapin is devastated and shaken to the core.

I'm still in a lot of shock. But I am eternally grateful that she's still here, and still able to smile and laugh and be part of our lives in the future. There's so much for her to live for... and we'll be there for her.

One of my friends shot himself in the head yesterday morning. We had no clue that he was in such a state of mind. He left a suicide note but the police have it and no one knows what he wrote. He was a very talented musician and a really nice person. You never know what is going on in someone's head. His wife is in the care of friends and a doctor and a therapist until her family can get here from out of town.

He had practiced for an upcoming musical performance the night before with some other friends.
No one had a clue. At least he didn't do it at home, which would have been even worse for his wife.

I've had several friends take their lives - its very hard to deal with and you always wonder if there was something you could have done. The truth is, its very difficult to imagine a person going that far, being in that much pain, and so often no its hidden until its too late.

I'm thankful your friend did not succeed. Be there for her and let her know she is valued. My best to you both. :hug:

we just go back from the psych ward. I hope I never, ever have to see the inside of that building again - ever. Heather's friend is okay for now. Her parents are absolutely exhausted and it was cold as ice with them. I still don't regret calling them, but it was so very hard.
