What's the top speed your current car can do?
I found out two weeks ago that my crappy '89 Volvo wagon tops out at about 105.

1. It's been 145
probably limited to 150, but I know it had more. A turn came up.

2. I am not entirely sure.
I have gone 90 in it, and it did not seem to mind.

3. Heh, I found out my old 1984 Celebrity could go about 100...
I was afraid to go any faster, that car was rattling like crazy, then I broke the driveshaft on the thing, and junked it for 50 bucks. My '89 Celica convertible, on the other hand, was able to go about 130 on flat highway. It was a stick, I traveled from St. Louis to Springfield, in less than 2 hours in that thing. Had to sell it when a rod was thrown. Dammit! x(

5. is it a 240 or 740?
the speedometer on my 82 240 wagon only goes up to 85, but i can peg it on the interstate no problem, so i'm going to say at least 90-95

18. Cool. With what?
I've already done a couple subtle mods...I haven't hit the dyno, but my 20 years of experience says she's pushing close to 300 hp by now.

9. About 160
Scared me piss less, though, even though I was the only car on the track. Kinetic energy, conservation thereof, can have some scary implications. Not driver enough for that.

Maybe 55.

We'll never know. Given Seattle traffic, we never get much above 40.

13. Dunno, don't care
I can't imagine a situation in which I'd want to drive faster than about 80, unless I were drag racing.

Now, getting to 80 — yeah. Acceleration's what it's about. :headbang:

14. I haven't pushed my little Camry Hybrid that hard...
I know I can do 80 easily on the freeway, though...

It's a shock to look at the speedometer, and see just how fast I'm going!

And there are folks still passing me...*gulp*

17. I did about 100 on I-5 headed toward Oregon
People were still passing me. On a curvy road. At night. I think the car could have gone faster, but that was about as far as my nerve was going to go in those conditions.

Californians, and I can say this because I am one, are some of the craziest motherfuckers on the planet.

22. Well, I got this old dude up to 90 once.

94 Ford Escort with over 125K on the clock at the time--and there was plenty more to go beyond the 90, but I was getting nervous.

Sadly, this mighty vehicle finally succumbed to rust recently. Engine still runs like new, but one of the rear shocks is up through the floor. I'm sorry to lose my old friend--we had some fun times.

26. 85+ Dunno for sure
It's an '89, so the speedo only goes up to 85.

I've passed that when passing people, but usually on I-35 I'm cruising at 80 in a 70 zone. And still being passed...

If I had to guess... probably good for over 110. it's only got 165 horses and it's a GM full-size car, so probably somewhere around there.

29. Let's see...
My Saturn Ion has been right on the edge of 100 mph. There was more room, but it didn't feel very stable at that speed so I backed off.

My 1979 Beetle? I doubt she'd hit 85, and I wouldn't want to do that to her.

I've had it to 130 and it could do more, but I think aerodynamics kick in above that.

36. 74.5 km/ph
On my bike (my car), approaching Grassmere, New Zealand. I flew down a big hill, with a tail wind and a long straightaway for a landing. I probably could've gone faster. After I launched off the crest, I glanced down at my gadget, saw 70 and started tapping the brakes.
