Just listened to Amy Winehouse for the first time

Personally...no appeal for me
Her voice grates on my ears, and irritates the hell out me.

I have no idea why she is considered such a great vocalist.
She sounds rather pedestrian to me.

2. I thought that she did an ok performance last night but wasn't as good as I've heard her in the past

I never watch the Grammys.

But, because of all the awards and accolades she received last night, as well as so many who do like her here on DU, I gave her a listen via youtube.

She's not my cup of tea, though am sure she's appealing to other people.

No matter what my opinion of her voice, I do hope she does find recovery from her addictions.
No one should have to live their lives in such pain.

and if you've seen pictures of her from just a couple years ago you can see how she went from this fresh-faced looking girl into, well someone who is pretty scary looking and she's still so young. It's tragic to see anyone throw their life away like that.
