F*ck Valentine's Day,
there I said it.

It's a made up holiday to help department store X sell chocolate and dying flowers to people so that the purchasers may "prove" they love whomever they're with.

If I had one the most my loved one could look forward to is a night spent with me and whatever nice foodstuffs we have on hand. Since I don't, I'll be spending Valentine's day the way I always do, sitting around with friends B.S.ing about what people choose to spend their money on these days.

Q3JR4.

1. "a night spent with me and whatever nice foodstuffs we have on hand"
That's what the missus and I will be doing.
Hell, I might get lucky and have to change a poopy-diaper too!

There are too many holidays where you are 'expected' (or told to by society) to spend money to celebrate it.

Around here we celebrate most holidays with nice dessert. We have nice desserts often anyways, but hey, it's an excuse.

13. That sounds like a great way to spend a holiday.
Even the poopy diaper party. I love kids, and I've never minded diaper duty. :P

9. I give Valentines gifts to my friends.
I don't feel the need to prove my love to anyone, be it friends, family or dating partner. However, it's a commonly accepted day that I think helps remind people to show those they love that they care about them.
It would be great if people did it all the time, without a special day, but there it is.
To me, anything that encourages people to let those around them know that they care, and are thinking of them, isn't a horrible disgusting thing. It's great.

Mothers Day, Fathers Day, two other days I'm happy to celebrate. I try to show my parents I love and respect them all the time, but it's nice that they have a day to be reminded of it.
