2. I second what lost said

If you're invited with guest, it should say so... that sucks!

4. Generally, that implies just you....
Unless the inner envelope said something to the effect of "Lioness and Guest."

But sometimes people neglect to do that, so.... If it was me, and I wanted to go with a date, I'd discreetly find out if it's OK or not.

12. I would still think they would start with You and Guest, and then you would rsvp with 1 or 2.
But maybe they don't know what they're doing.

15. Only because they ran off a whole lot of generic RSVP cards for everyone
One does not normally run off separate cards for those invites that only go to one person.

6. Unless things have changed, I would say it means going solo.
Although, to some people, taking a date to a wedding is a given.

7. That's rude.
I would ask them to clarify I guess. Have you seen anyone else's invitations?

16. It's not rude at all - people have the right to invite whoever they want,
and the right to not invite whoever they want.

There is no divine right to be invited to anything.

18. Sure, they have the right, but it doesn't make it not rude.
Unless that is how they invited all their co-workers, even the married ones.

20. It's only rude if rudeness was intended.

And we have no idea if rudeness was intended.

I'm curious as to under what conditions you are willing to accept an invitation if you think that inviting only the people one wants is rude.

13. Well what kind of wedding is it?
Is it the kind of event where you would reasonably be expected to bring a date (large reception, barbeque, dance) or is it just a tiny church wedding with a reception in the church hall afterwards?

14. Unless it says "and guest", you just bring yourself.
Though it's always okay to ask about it and make sure, so long as one does so diplomatically - perhaps they don't know you have an SO that you'd like to bring. On the other hand, they might be trying to limit the people for cost reasons, and so perhaps no one is getting an "and guest" on their invite.
