Big heavy work boots?
How the heck do you wear 'em?

I've got my heavy duty winter boots on (not even a steel toe or anything) and it is so hard to walk in these things.

If it hadn't been 6 inches of slush outside in my driveway this morning, I would have just worn my running shoes, these things are HEAVY

3. I was always amazed at how comfy my steel toed boots were
I usually had to wear them with fairly loose laces--to improve air cirulation, but for at least the first year or so they always had really cushy soles. But yeah, they are pretty heavy. I think mine were about 3 pounds each (size 14 with steel toes and meta-tarsal guards).

9. Welcome to DU!
:hi:

The odd thing for me was that while I have fairly sensitive skin (the heat really bothered my feet) breaking in new boots or shoes has never given me any troouble at all.

I had one pair of Iron Age boots (I think it was) that were sucha drag to lace up, once the laces broke, well, I just got a new pair!

Pardon me if I am incorrect, but do I recall a post where you said you ran a marathon or a 10k or something? Those work boots should be a piece of cake for you!! :P

6. If you need just snow boots, invest in some Uggs.
Yes, yes, they are ugly, but they're warm, light weight and comfortable. I've had mine for five years now.

7. Different types of work boots.
As with anything else, the cheap ones are tough to break in. The "Cadillac" ones have arch supports and are comfotable.

10. I sprang for custom workboots
Edited on Wed Feb-13-08 07:10 PM by pokerfan
back when I needed them. Company's still in business. This is them:

Note the hooks on the uppers. Made them very fast to lace up. Quadruple stitched everything. Nice shallow tread that doesn't pick up excessive mud but still provides traction.
