Anyone else's dog hate the vacuum?
Our little doggy hates the vacuum. The man just vacuumed the living room and as soon as he plugged it in, she started barking like crazy. When he turned it on, she went nuts, jumped off the couch and started to attack the vacuum. She gets so scared. Now she's better though! :)

3. Not the vacuum. But because of the way I used to discipline her
as a puppy, my dog hates propane torch. Probably same concept.

7. I don't have a dog, and I never vacuum...
So I guess I can't really contribute to this thread!

No, really--I do vacuum! But I don't have a dog...

8. Don't have a dog, but one of my cats is quite sure the vacuum wants to kill him.
He freaks completely out whenever I just pull the thing out of the closet. He's knocked over an entire bookcase before in his haste to get away from the monster. :eyes:

15. Our cats must be related.
Mine hisses when I even open the door to the closet where I keep the vacuum. He then climbs all the way to the top of his tree and casts his baneful gaze upon me until I put it away. He's a nut.

12. I think most dogs do
One of mine ignores it as long as it's not too close. If the noise bothers him he'll just stroll away. Other dog really doesn't like it, want to go far away fast.

I had a foster dog one time (lab/pit mix) who would attack it. Didn't vacuum much while he was with me!

They reject the thief of the dirt they track into the house.

Ergo, dogs abhor a vacuum

17. One time I came home and my dog was using the vacuum in unconventional ways.
:spank:

Unfortunately, he hated it when it was turned on, so the relationship never worked out!

18. My dog runs around kind of freaked
No barking, but when I turn it off, she tries to get between me and the area I either just vacuumed or am heading to vacuum.

She also HATES the staple gun.
If I'm stapling fabric to a chair seat, she actually tries to get between me and the staple gun.
Seems like she sees it as "Danger, Whoa Nelly!"

23. Our dogs run away and hide when the vacuum cleaner comes to life.
 Poor things.... but they get even by giving the lawn mower hell in the back yard. They screambark at the mower and somehow magically manage to make it go away eventually...

24. My cats are afraid of the vaccum.
But they don't really make a big deal about it; they just run off and hide. Usually they're little drama queens who have to make a big deal out of nothing! :P

27. My Australian Cattle Dog tries to herd it!
He's identified what he considers to be the vacuum's heels and nips at them pretty agressively.

I used to have an English bulldog who was scared of the vacuum even when it was off. He'd eye it suspiciously and then slink around it.
