CONFESS!!! Valentine's Day special - who here had Mono? How did you get it

I got Mono at the end of 11th grade. I was dating someone at the time but he was not affected so I'm not sure who I got mono from but I'm sure there were a few random guys I made out with at the local roller skating rink (I was such a tease).

The good news is I had been wanting to break up with my boyfriend but everytime I tried he got all weepy on me. With the mono I couldn't see anyone for 2 months so I just pretty much quit returning his calls.

Perhaps God gave me mono cause he knew this guy was not right for me!

1. I got mine from a possum.

2. got it in my sophmore year in college

i was stoooopid!!! my gf at the time had it and after she spent some time at home recovering, i drove her back to school. she still had it and after i got her settled in, one thing lead to another....................

3. I got it when I was 15 from sharing a soda with a friend at school.

It was the last day of school, too x( My whole summer was shot.

4. I had mono in the middle of my senior year at HS.

I was an exchange student in New Zealand at the time and also for the first time I had a real boyfriend. He gave it to me.

5. I got mine from a tractor !

at least thats what my ex husband told me.

I know I hadnt kissed anybody but him, and he said he didnt have it, so it must be true !

6. I had Epstein-Barr as an adult.

It took a long time for them to diagnose it because it didn't turn into infectious mono. It just lingered along for a long time and the doctor I went to said that since I was up and around it couldn't be mono. (I worked the whole time in a state hospital.)

Nearly two months later I had passed out from exhaustion and went to the on-call doctor. The diagnosis was almost immediate.

7. Senior year of HS

It wasn't too bad, I only missed a couple days of school and never went to the doc so it wasn't an official diagnosis. I asked about it later and he said I probably had a really mild case. For a few weeks I was able to go to school (I was taking AP biology and pre calc so didn't want to miss too much class and fall behind) but when I came home I slept, got up to eat and do homework, then went to bed for the night. What I really remember is cervical lymph nodes being incredibly swollen and hot for a long time and the skin over them was peeling off. My BF at the time didn't have symptoms.

8. Had it when I was fifteen or sixteen...no idea how I got it.

Could have been everything from kissing to sharing bongs for all I know. :)

It was easily the sickest I've ever been.
