My son asked if he could watch an "On Demand" show earlier...
I told him it was ok as long as it was free and not rated R. I checked in on him, certain he was watching SpongeBob or Tom & Jerry cartoons. My jaw dropped when I saw that he was watching History Channel's "Tuskegee Airmen". He looked up at me and said, "Well it is Black History Month." :-)

10 in June. He wrote a kick-ass composition for me today, too. It's so cool that he's getting into learning. I hope it lasts!

12. He must have heard about Black History Month on TV...
I've tried to not make a distinction between Black History and any other kind of history. Though I have been conscientous about teaching how certain groups have suffered throughout history, including now. It's nice to see it sink in!

14. Yeah, sometimes they show programs with a RW slant...
A lot of times I'll watch "educational" programs with him, just to make sure he isn't being misinformed.
