Post a song that everytime you here it brings back wonderful memories
I know we have many songs like that but I'm listening to David Lee Roth's "Just a Gigalo" and everytime I hear it I remember about a great springtime roadtrip we took in college to Millersville University. MU has this massive spring fling party and we went my freshman year. There were 12 of us crammed into one of those massive size station wagon including camping gear, booze and one keg of beer. To get to the spring fling site we had to drive up a bit of an incline which our car managed to go about 10mph tops. While doing this really slow drive "Just a Gigalo" came on the radio and we opened all the windows and sang the song at the top of our longs.

I preceded to get totally shitface (hey I was a college freshman and I survived my first year) but it was a great trip. BTW, we camped out the night so no need to drink and drive home.

1. "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol
It's "our" song, and what we danced to at our wedding.

3. Suffragette City by David Bowie
I had tickets in the second row to see him at the Shrine Auditorium in L.A. When he got to the "Wham Bam Thank You Ma'am" part it was awesome to hear 6,300 other people singing the line at the same time. Awesome moment in concert.

4. I'm like that with "Rock in me" by Steve Miller Band
He has a line where he sings "I went from Phoenix Arizona all the way to Tacoma, Philadelphia Atlanta LA"

Well all 6 times I've seen Steve Miller Band has been in the Philadelphia area - and we scream Philadelphia at the top of our lungs.

But I've seen Bowie 3 times and all 3 times - "WHAM BAM THANK YOU MA'AM"

5. Elton John's "Your Song"
When I brought my son Tim home from the hospital for the first time, and of course, as I was recovering from childbirth and dealing w/ postpartum let-down, I would sing this song to my son.

And even now, as he is 20 and has had a year of bad decisions and heart break, I hear that song and think how lucky I was to be blessed w/ the gift that is my son.

I hope you don't mind, Tim, that I sing the words "how wonderful life is now you're in the world."

Elton and Bernie, thank you for putting that sentiment into words and music.

Reminds me of the road trip my friend and I took from MA to FL to check out the school we were going to attend for college. It was on a mix-tape we must've listned to 100 times on that trip.

Good times.

8. Two: Country Roads by John Denver, Roxanne by Sting
Country Roads because when I was a child we always listened to that song while travelling to my Dad's house (both when he lived 5 miles from us and then 500 miles away)

Roxanne: I was on a camping trip with a college class, TA's professors and students. We were on a birding trip so we all went to bed early so we could get up early for the best birding. Unfortunately a bunch of redneck drunks were camped next to us and were up shouting at each other and playing loud music and making total assholes of themselves while keeping us awake.
The next morning when we got ready to leave, the TA (who was very cool) had an awesome idea..blast the radio while we warm up the car. We did. And as Roxanne played we all sang "ROXANNE"!! everytime Sting said it at the top of our lungs. It was HIGH-larious. Still can't hear that song without thinking about it.

11. ha, the mention of "Just a Gigolo" made me laugh!
It reminds me of the years when my best friend played piano bar, and this was one of the songs in his repertoire. Those were the days; I thought they'd never end. This friend was a high point of my life. I never met anyone more alive and able to make people feel good.

19. "Sea of Madness" = CSN+Y will always remind me of a spring night
during my Freshman year of college :-). A few of my male friends sang it under my open dorm window to lure me out for the night.

"Sea Of Madness"

How can I bring you
To the Sea of Madness
I love you so much
It's gonna bring me sadness
I've never seen you
Through these eyes before
Now I don't believe it
I think I'll take it
Or leave it.

All I need
Is your sweet sweet loving
Fill my life with happiness
All I want is your heart
Every time I think of you
Mine falls apart.

I went to heaven
And I stood at the crossroads
I'll love you tomorrow
As sure as the wind blows
Silver rain
On the mountain clover
Washes away
Until the music is over.

34. Okay, probably too much information, but...
that song brings back memories. Whenever I hear it I now recall a Friday night my husband and I were lying in bed post-coital listening to "Friday Night 80s" on the radio station. We were in our first house (rental, but it wasn't an apartment) and we were just beginning our attempts to start a family. I just remember lying there, listening to the song in the dark and feeling utterly content.

25. Free Fallin' by Tom Petty reminds me of one of the last summers that I spent with me Dad
He was living in Reseda at the time and my brother and I were visiting from Florida. We had a great time that summer, working with my Dad at various job sites around LA, partying at night and going out on the weekends. My Dad was a very easy going guy and we were all happy to be together after he and our mother had separated. "Hollywood Nights" by Bob Seger takes me back there too!

26. When I Paint My Masterpiece
Grateful Dead show at Cal Expo in the first set. Was blissing out to a beautiful rendition of this song, when I happened to look behind me towards the setting sun. :wow: This utterly gorgeous sunset was happening. By the end of the song I think most of the audience had their backs to the stage as they took in the view while swaying along.

Hearing this song instantly takes me back to that moment. :hippie:
