2. If that's the case, then I went downhill years ago.
I've had bifocals for quite some time. I have the progressive (no-line) type. They take a few days to get used to (be careful going down stairs!), but now, I have no problem with them at all.

(Cute smilie, btw.)

3. Now just a darned minute!
I'm wearing trifocals, baby!

And I do not feel as though I'm going downhill! :grr:

Consider the option of just wanting to see, OK?

That makes it easier!

And that's a very cool smiley, BTW...

5. Dang, I guess I'm lucky.
At Thanksgiving, I was showing one of my cousins (who is eight years younger than me) something on my computer, and she kept going on and on about how she couldn't believe that I don't need reading glasses.

Hey, everyone needs SOMETHING to be thankful for.

13. The eye doctor asked me

... if I took my glasses off to read. I said no, unless I was holding up something really close to my eyes. So I can probably get away with this for a while yet.

I'm not OLD, dammit!!!!!

:)

24. I can still read at about a foot to 18 inches

I'm worried, though, that if I do go the bifocal route that my eyes will deteriorate faster.

8. What about progressives? I am finally getting used to mine and they
are kind of nice. No line and it is easier to read ingredients at the grocery store.

They'll give you tunnel vision and mess with your mind.

9. If they bug you too much try contact lenses... I have horrible eyes
but when I go contacts I never looked back.

At least for me, I see about 15% better with contacts over glasses

17. Horrible allergies too
in fact the NEEM trees will bloom soon and my own personal hell will begin.

If you can't get used to them :(

It did take me several months. However I was a very determined teenager at the time. I don't know if I could do that today.

I would really like to get the LASIK, but I never seem to have the cash or the time.

15. I got progressives a couple of months ago.
I love them! They're great because now I can see everything all the time instead of switching glasses back and forth all day (or not bothering with the distance glasses at all, therefore not seeing everything clearly). It takes a bit to get used to them, but you'll love them! :-)

When I started shopping at certain stores and making certain purchases....I told my girlfriends.....we're on a slippery slope but I'm fighting it all the way.

Keep your chin up!

18. I got 'em back in late September.
:yoiks: I got no-line bifocals, and while they're just fine and help me see better, I've never worn glasses on a regular basis until then. And I'm 44. It has taken a LOT of getting used to.

21. I have trouble at the computer with my bifocals.
I have to tilt my head up to read, so I usually wear a pair of reading glasses on TOP of my bifocals!

19. i remember my reaction when i first needed glasses -- then
when i got my prescription for bi-focals i was devastated.

BUT -- there is a universe of FABulous glasses out there -- and since you have to wear them every day -- my suggestion is -- Go for the Glam Girl!!!

22. nah, you can't think about it that way
I was 10 when I got my first set of bifocals. No shit. At 35 with vision like Mr Magoo and lenses way thicker than any jumbo coke bottles I went in had had LASIK. I still wake up some mornings amazed that I can see without fumbling for my glasses. But this is not intended to be a commercial for the benefits of modern science, just to say that bifocals ain't got shit to do with going downhill (they just suck!) Love yas!

Bifocals are a sign of maturity. Don't let those kids tell you you're going downhill. You're not getting older; you're getting better.

28. I'm going back
to single vision lenses. I've had the progressives and now just have regular no-line bifocals. Tilting my head back to read just isn't comfortable so I always tilt them up or take them off anyway. Single visions are cheaper and wouldn't make that much difference for me.

It takes around a week or two to acclimate yourself. But once you do, it is a pleasure to see again. It's not downhill at all. It's like seeing the world in HD. :hippie:

I can see to type better, though.

31. OT to hijack my own thread... How do the Cubbies look this year?
My Twins traded our Cy Young pitcher for 4 prospects. And Torii Hunter will be in center field for Anaheim...
