Whatcha listening to Lounge?
I'm listening to "Fear" by Toad the Wet Sprocket. Feeling kinda nostalgic. My and a buddy of mine had 4 Spanish girls absolutely swooning when we sang "Walk on the Ocean" to them one night on the beach. 25 year-old single guy, his own car, his own house, a little bit of money, living in Spain. It really wasn't fair.

3. Song of America
A compilation of almost 60 "American" songs done by various artists, produced in part by Janet Reno. Some amazing songs like "This Land is Your Land" done by John Mellencamp. Right now "God Save the King" by John Wesley Harding. Not sure why that's on here.

19. Tears for Fears
Edited on Sun Feb-17-08 12:53 PM by stuntcat
They have great songs and I'm afraid people take them for granted as any old 80's band, I mean everyone likes Mad World but they also like the Gary Jules version better, when the original is really nice.

Anyway I just heard Woman in Chains and it made me cry  whenever people sing together it makes me cry hehe

27. Jack Casady's "Dream Factor" and Bob Mould's "District Line"

The Casady CD is a revolving door of guest artists centered around Jack. One track...only one, "Sweden"...features the Grand MUTHA of all "supergroups"...

Fee Waybill from The Tubes on Vocals
Jack on bass
Warren "Govt Mule / Allman Bros" Haynes on lead guitar (left channel)
Jorma "Hot Tuna / Jefferson Airplane" Kaukonen on lead guitar (right channel)

The best part is that the song itself is a killer...Fee howls "Black smoke, grey sky, is all I see through frozen eyes" while Jorma and Warren have a dogfight on snarling, fuzzy, wah-wahed guitars.

Mould's "District Line" is classic Bob in the guitar-driven Sugar vein, with a little Husker Du aggression thrown in for good measure. Similar to his last CD "Body Of Song." He still flirts with the empty electronica of his earlier album "Modulate" on one track, "Shelter Me."

42. "Jimmy Reed Highway"
This recording is one of the great Blues recordings in recent memory. It features Kent "Omar" Dykes and Jimmy Vaughan. It is more than a tribute to the late great Jimmy Reed, it is a history lesson. It also features Omar's tribute to his wife, who waged a courageous battle against breast cancer and, unfortunately, lost. This recording is up for a BMA and should win. Listen to it.
