1. Do you call the wind "Maria"?
Or do you refer to it by an alternate sobriquet?

2. I happen to live in a very windy area
last night in fact it was blowing a steady 25-30 with gusts to 50mph

I usually say "Holy Chit! listen to that!" however, I never remember calling the wind Maria, or Mariah either for that matter.

I usually use a word beginning with 'F' and ending in 'king'

6. the guest bath is prepped and the paint is bought
I need to go get some wall mud to try a technique I saw on HGTV where you mix the wall mud right into the paint and put it on with a really nappy roller then 'knock it down' if needed for texture.

the thought of stripping 1300sf+ of wallpaper that is attached to the wallboard at the factory kept me paralyzed for a year LOL.

so I have a really good primer and i'm gonna try that cheat in the smallest room in the house, if it works I'm home free :bounce:

it takes a lot of prep though, pulling off the 'expansion' joints and filling those and getting em smooth. but I'll testing the theory this week (finally)

I do have the garden tilled and ready though :hi:

thanks for asking hehehe.......

11. anytime, the guest room has gotten quite a bit of use in the last 18 months
it's comfy and private but you'll need to give me at least a couple weeks to get the guest bath back together.

I'm using a blue/gray on the walls and a darker shade of the same paint on the cabinets with brushed nickel fixtures/lamps and white counters and ceiling.

once I get that up I may do the other three walls in the guest room with the same blue/gray or even the same paint but REALLY light tint to balance out the sage wall in the guest room

I have a really nice set of french blue/yellow drapes with plenty of extra panels to make pillows etc

but I doubt it'll get that much of a make over until the paint is done all through the house.

the good news is hubby's new job gives him a week off a month, so once we're to the great room, he can help me knock it out fast later this summer

here's the guest room as of last summer, the couch has a trundle that pulls out and is quite comfy

AZDist 6 is the State rep dist, not a federal congressional dist.

NMDist2 is pretty much the whole south half of the state and *is* the congressional dist.

49. He was a barber
When the mines closed, he moved back to El Paso, Tx.

Though, strangely enough, the seven generations before him were miners, moving up from the Sierra Madre in Mexico to the Rockies, starting before the 1700's as far as I can tell.

Miners have to follow the lodes.

I'll probably write something on what DU has meant to me over these last 4 years, the first few years of the * administration were so horrible, then when Kerry lost in '04 I was so depressed I couldn't even look at politics for a few weeks (months?) but I still was on DU, just in the Cooking and Baking group, the Home Improvement group, the Astrology group, the pet group.

those people saved my sanity, taught me to make bread from scratch and helped me totally remodel my kitchen for less than $1000

I have friends here, and it's such a big part of my life now that I don't work and live way out in the country, it's my life line, my news source, my solace and my motivator.

I'll post a link in the Lounge, but the 40K will hopefully be General Discussion material

oops edit to add 39,930 and counting

The one I bought is glass. I wanted to use it for my yogurt but the colored fluid inside (not sure what it is!) is separated in a few places and won't come back together so it's totally unreliable.

87. Yeah, but still...what I mean to say is,
despite any arguments we may have had, that many posts says that you've put a lot of yourself into DU.

And I'm sure that I'm not the only one who feels that the place has benefited from your participation.

76. Wow, that is a hell of a lot of posts.
As a fellow Arizonan, I just want to give you a humble "thank you" and "congratulations." No questions, just admiration.

Take care!
