my dad just called to let me know that my mom's in the hospital. Chest pains of some kind. They couldn't figure out what was going on exactly, but she's staying overnight. :\

At the very least this might prompt her to get back on her exercise regimen... she'd made it a point to lose some weight a few years ago when she was diagnosed as being mildly diabetic. She wanted to nip it in the bud before it turned into a full-blown case. But she's gotten a little more lax lately.

17. I'm fine, it's just a little ironic

that I moved across the country to help out one family member with health problems... so I'm not there when something like this happens. :\ Not that I could do much even if I was there, but still. I'd be one more person who could watch their dogs, or give my little sister a ride somewhere if my dad wanted to be at the hospital with my mom when she had to be somewhere else, ect.

25. Update:

My mom took a few more tests this morning and she seems to be okay. They're not sure if it was just too mild to register on the tests or if it was a false alarm, but either way we're hoping this will be a bit of a wake-up call and she'll start taking care of herself a little better. :) She was doing pretty well when she found out she was mildly diabetic. She immediately started exercising and losing weight. But the last year or so she's been slacking off a little.

Just got an email from my mom. She is in fact using this as an excuse to start trying to whip herself into shape again. :) So this little scare could very well turn out to be a good thing.
