He's a dwarf Siberian hamster. My son named him Rico. Cutest little thing! :loveya:

6. He's so sweet, too...
A little jumpy, as most hammies are when first handled, but he's not nippy at all.

2. Awww! I remember I had a hamster in high school!
It got loose one day and I could never find it. About a year later my parents thought we had mice in the house and set out rat poison!! We found my HUGE hamster dead soon after. At least he had one hell of a year!!

7. OMG!
You must have felt awful...
Then again, if he'd nibbled any wires, he would have been toasted.

20. We often have a mouse or two who sneak onto the back porch
when the weather gets cold. They don't last long with the cat in the house.

4. I had a hamster when I was a kid
They are good little pets, easy to clean up after and tons of fun to watch run around in one of those little "hamster balls"

13. I'll be helping him with cage cleanings,
since we have one of these complex contraptions:
And he'll be handling the food and water after he brushes his teeth in the morning.

22. He hasn't quite figured it out yet...
But I put a couple of yogurt treats in the exercise wheel and a mineral chew in the privacy cubby; so I don't doubt that he'll be visiting both of them soon. :D

They both lived for a couple of years. They were cuties.

My daughter has an albino hanster now. The thing is the spawn of Satan.

I had named him Lucifer, but my daughter decided to change it.

He bites and has red eyes. He is evil.

26. He will.
She doesn't try to pick him up anymore. She somehow gets him out to clean the cage though.

I was going to try to hand tame him, but haven't done the research yet. He was born from the neighbor's hamster. She was evidentally preggers when they got her from the pet store. The then evil spawn mated with his mother. His sister is also his daughter. :silly: I told you he was the devil.

27. Years ago I had a pair of hammies named Franklin and Eleanor...
They had babies, so I moved Franklin to a cage of his own. What I didn't realize was that Eleanor was a cannibal. One baby survived, and once weaned, I gave him to my sister. He lived almost 7 years...
