1. hey I made about $10 selling my ring at a pawn shop
that's about $10 more than my HS memories are worth so it turned out to be a good deal.

20. personally? nothing. my folks paid a bundle though
It was stupid sentimentality that I regret. I was trying to look on the bright side of it. My high school years weren't the best of my life and there wasn't a lot there to look back on fondly.

6. My college roommate wore her HS class ring all through college
I tried nicely to tell her it was dorky but she wouldn't pay any attention.

My mother still wears her HS ring occasionally but it's a very cool ring; an intertwined gold insignia on blue enamel. You have to look very closely to see that it's a class ring, it just looks like gold filigree on blue.

7. Still have them both....
And I don't think either of them fit me. I could probably wear the jacket, but the ring would have to be resized.

8. doesn't wear it now, but when we were in HS a friend found a great use for his ring
he would put it on his left hand upside down, so that it looked like a wedding band on casual glance. Then, he'd go into a beer store constantly complaining about his (fake) wife and kids, but a lottery ticket and beer, and never got carded. Granted, he looked a bit old for his age back then thanks to some thick facial and chest hair, but it worked like a charm.

21. Lol, I've done similar things, sans class ring.
Works about 50% of the time. It would help if I could grow anything but scraggly facial hair. It's a curse upon all the men in my family. We can grow mustaches, but beards, goatees, etc are all patchy and rough.

10. My ring came in handy for my 20 year reunion a few months ago....
The reunion committee mentioned that the festivities would include some contests, and that we were to bring the following items to the event (if available):

1. Varsity jacket
2. Tassel
3. High School Ring

Anyway...varsity jacket contest was "who fits in their jacket the best". The prize was a $250 gift card to Le Bec-Fin (Philly). Won by a girl who was our field hockey star.

The tassel contest was "the tassel with the least amount of fraying and SUN DAMAGE" - LOL! Alot of faded, frayed tassels showed up that night, mine being no exception. Mine fell victim to a 1979 Firebird rearview mirror, always parked in the sun. The prize was a $100 gift card to The Prime Rib (Philly). Won by a girl who had her senior picture, diploma and tassel framed in a shadow box after graduation. The damned thing was in mint condition.

High school ring contest - "whose ring fits best and can be removed with the least amount of resistance". I won with flying colors - my ring size, to this day, has never changed. And lucky me, it was the biggest prize - a ski weekend package, complete with lodging, food, equipment rental and ski lift tickets to Blue Mountain, Poconos.

I never wear it anymore, but I ain't ever gettin rid of it. :)

23. That's hilarious.
I might win the tassel contest. It's pinned on the wall and encounters no direct sunlight.

The ring, forget about it. It only fits good on my pinky finger.

11. I stopped wearing my ring when I was 20...
But it's one of the few things I've kept from that time in my life. I still have my letter jacket, too.

There's a guy that I know who graduated in '06, and he still wears his jacket. He figures, as much as he paid for the thing...and he says it's very warm.

hanging in what passes for my closet. Even if I could still fit it I wouldn't wear it, but it is nice to take out once in a while to show my little cheerleaders for inspiration.

14. I still have my 25 year old letter jacket
I still have my 25 year old letter jacket in my closet. Too many patches and awards (in other words-- memories) are sewn onto it. Odd thing is, is still fits pretty good except that the sleeves seem a bit short.

On a whim, I took it out some years back and found an old love letter stuffed into the pocket. Ahhh... memories :)

16. I still have my HS ring but
never wore it after high school. Oddly enough my mom, a college graduate with a Masters in Library Science, really liked how my ring looked and frequently wore it over the years. I was perfectly happy to have her enjoy it.

18. I do sometimes
It's a nice ring. My letter jacket is still in the US in the closet but my ring is here with me. I'll bring over my letter jacket one day!

People here seem to be fascinated with American novelties such as my ring and my yearbook... I'll bring along my letter jacket just to complete that circle! :-)

True story - I saw a woman with a '95 varsity jacket on last week. I'm like "you've gotta be shittin' me. I'm truly in white trash Republican hell."
